So there is gonna be a talk by Mr. Mario Livio tomorrow on campus on his book with the title "Is God a Mathematician". He is going to talk about how the **** does math so accurately describe our world. Also, he argues that math is part invented and part discovered. I find all this incredibly exciting. :icflove: Anyone read that book ? Thoughts on topic ?

Wow. That is awesome, seriously. Because I was having this same debate with my math professors and teacher in highschool a while ago. I shall read it. Thanks for letting me know!

It amazes to think how real-life phenomenon can be explained by mathematical formulae and relations. For eg, Two identical stones of mass m thrown from a height x, at a velocity always reaches the ground in time t. How can such totally random events follow such predictable outcomes? So yes, in that regard, its really really fascinating to study how mathematics can be used to explain real-world phenomena..

Assuming there is a God, and the universe is his creation then his nature seems entirely opposite to a mathematician. A mathematician generally tries to create or discover structure/order within objects. Whereas the universe always drifts towards more disorder as entropy keeps increasing.

In India, Munaf patel has to cover 10 meters of ground to stop a ball traveling at 2 inches per second and he fails. In NZ also if he has to stop a ball of any random velocity at any random distance and he fails. How can such totally random events follow such predictable outcomes?:nervous:
