But to me, if there are 56 games in the leagues stages, the semis need to be round-robin too. 1 plays 2,3,4. 2 plays 3,4 and 3 plays 4- a total of 6 games-4 more than the current scenrio. Also, a finals which is best of 3. But to be very frank, where is the real excitement or sensation in that. Delhi, obviously the best team in the competition, and would remain the best in spite of today's defeat has been knocked out by a team that had won just 3 out of their last 10 games, one of which because of a miracle. Now, thats a big sensation and the ultimate knock-out blow and would remain one in the annals of IPL. Go Chargers!!!!!!!

The Tournament might start to loose its charm once the winners are decided and as morris said this is stricktly about business, its all about glueing the audience to their Television sets. Its not we have a Tier System or so, where we have Relegations and stuff to make things exciting? I guess this is the Best an 8 Team Competition could do

cowboysfan Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 better teams lose all the time-this is just an overreaction for today.sports history is littered with teams who have dominated in league stage but who lost in the post season.A tournament will not be exciting if only better teams won all the time.I think this unpredictability is what separates T20 from other sports and even test cricket and i dont want it to change.

Do you really think any one of DC or DD could claim complete dominance over the other? That's exactly my point - All teams that qualified for the semis are evenly matched and one should not complain if any of the team wind on a given day.
