Ishant Sharma speed watch

But a top speed of only 85 mph. Its not like he had to consereve himself for long spell. He was bowling flat out and bowled many just over 80mph
That's a valid point. I was hoping Ishant will exert himself more today given that the pitch was really fast and Edwards was able to induce errors from the batsmen through speed alone.
Even Afridi bowled at 130 kph in the last match and look at praveen kumar shakal toh aisi bana ke aata hai jaise 500 wickets liye huey hai international cricket mein.

I am pretty sure I saw him clock 88.xx today - obviously speed is not the problem with him. Truth be told I was really disappointed with his bowling today. I thought this pitch would be ideal for him with the extra bounce and carry and he did get the batsman to top edge a pull once but was just all over the shop. If he had bowled the right length on this pitch, he could have easily got 2-3 wickets.

True about Wasim/Waqar....I saw the speed as a kid but it was only great because of swing and good bouncers. Whenever Waqar had an off day and didn't bowl well, he'd get hammered because he was quick. I am not obsessed by pace, but I love seeing a pace bowler that bowls with great control and swing/bounce

Totally military medium yesterday. His fastest ball was 85 mph. He is just a trundler at the moment! He IMO had a poor tour of NZ with medium pace bowling and had a very poor 20/20 tournamnet. Did not take any wickets in last 3 matches. People say he should be rested. He should actually be dropped! Needs to go away and work on his game!

ishant irfan and of course sree and munaf after their injuries are all going to become regular spinners of the indian team bhaj and mishra will face a lot of competetion in them...:giggle:

give him a break.he is tired.once he gets reasonable rest n is fresh,i'm sure he'll be at 90 mph again.n its nothing to do with Prasad.

Please let him rest and watch a few videos of his own bowling and those of other bowlers. Please send in Munaf and Sudeep Tyagi instead :((

If you pick players strictly on merit Ishant may not be an automatic choice anymore especially in shorter versions. In one dayers you either contain or take wickets. Ishant is doing neither. Praveen is a far more intelligent bowler. Ishant is barely faster than Praveen.

At his pace PK HAS to be intelligent and skillful, which he is. :winky:

Ishant is looking in good rhythm. Two areas of improvement though a) Needs to bowl the bouncer a lot more especially against these lankans b) Needs to get his line a little closer to the off stump. A lot of times with the length he bowls, bowling outside the off stump provides the batsman enough space to free his arms.
