Sachinism Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Looks like dropping him was the right thing to do. Got his ass into gear
satishg Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 He looks really fired up now, hope he continues this form onto the ODIs and then to tests!
king2be98 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 If a bowler young like him, stays fit and improves his fitness and physique he should be able to bowl 3/4mph quicker. Any more than that would be asking for miracles. So at the moment he's averaging around the 86mph mark, which means in a couple of years he should be a consistent 90mph bowler. That would be great for India, a quality bowler who is accurate and gets steepling bounce and consistently at pace. I really can't see any bowler adding much more pace than that once they've got into their 20s. As for the part about physique, he does like rather slim and lanky like McGrath he doesn't have the power build of lets say a younger Shoaib or Brett Lee, mind you Brett Lee still looks in great condition. That would require a lot of gym work on Ishant's part.
Celeste Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Ishant will not become a 90mph and neither will Aamir. This is just a myth. I have never seen a bowler gain pace as he grow older. Pace comes to you naturally. Either you have it or not :marchmellow:

Pace comes to you naturally. Either you have it or not :marchmellow: Umar Gul when he took that famous 5 for against India's powerful batting line up in 2004, was bowling at 83-84mph. He now bowls consistently up around the 88-90mph mark. He every now and then can touch 92mph. Shoaib Akhat could only muster speeds of about 91/92mph when he was bowling in the 99 world cup, occassionally getting up to 95mph. In the '03 world cup, he was around the 95mph consistently and every now and then was touchign the 100mph mark. The same applies to Brett Lee and Bond too. These are of course guys of course who are not just fast but very fast. They didn't start off as quick as they are now. Btw Aamir is 17 and he's hitting the 90mph. In 5 years time he'll be at around that regularly and will be able to touch 95mph. Who knows what he'll get to when he's 25. You're right you are born with pace or you aren't, but you most certainly grow stronger and fitter which will make you faster.
rkt.india Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 yes he looked quite better in the 2 T-20s India played. His rhythm is back and action is going well. The break has been good for him.

Either you have it or not :marchmellow: No dear, Andrew Flintoff was never a 90 mph bowler when he started first but he increased pace after the age of 25 a lot He consistently bowled 90 mph in the last few series he played against India and Australia. It was amazing to see him generating so much pace even after a lot injuries.

S.Bond Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I think Ishant also tries to not ball too fast on slow pitches witch is not a so bad thing, just look at the ODI's agaisnt aussies, in nagpur there was some bounce a pace in the pitch and he bowled over 145 kph... All said i don't rate as a very good bowler...
King Tendulkar Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 At times clocked 90 mph today and all of them were on the money. Impressive
King Tendulkar Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 Impressive after tea as well, shows good stamina. Bowling most in high 80s with some again after tea hitting 90mph and a few at 91 mph
zubinpepsi Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 but doesnt remotely look like getting any wickets..
rkt.india Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 146.6K fastest by Ishant, 147.1k fastest by Varun Aaron.
rkt.india Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 but doesnt remotely look like getting any wickets.. bowler gets wickets like this by creating some sustained pressure on such flat track. This is a batting beauty right now.
King Tendulkar Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 Looks like Ishant has decided to become a fast bowler :two_thumbs_up:
msb1991 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 How can you guys be excited when we have two wickets in almost a full day against West Indies?
