I haven't heard of any actor promoting his movie 6 months before. If this was supposed to be a publicity stunt then he would have done it a few months later. Although, I don't understand this. Why would he resort to such cheap publicity when he knows that like most of his movies, this would open to a full house and stay that way for quite long? Why would he resort to such cheap publicity when he knows that this is the first time after 10 years that the SRK-Kajol jodi will be back and so many people are going to watch the movie just for that very reason? Why would he resort to such cheap publicity when his film is apparently bought by Fox Star for a whopping 98 crores? I just doesn't make sense. In short, brand SRK does not need to stoop so low to promote his movies. People are going to watch it anyway!

Some publicity != Cheap publicity. Every film maker/actor/actress will take part in doing some publicity for their film. There is nothing wrong in that. Everybody in the world does that. However, this particular instance comes under the bracket of cheap publicity. SRK and co. have no reason to resort to such cheap publicity.
