When Ishant is bowling his heart out and troubling aussies in OZ, i remember he credited his performance to Venky... Where was this shyt prabhakar then?One or two bad performance from our phast bowlers and this guy is up in the arms. A coach can just teach techniques , but they cant come n bowl in the field.... This S**t guy is eying bowling coach position and he is talking all the s**t to dislodge venky :mad::mad:

anyone but this prasad............he is worthless.............was a worthless bowler and is making our bowlers the same as our bowlers were in 1990s.............venky is best known for his slower leg cutter...........can he teach anything else.....if not bring in some one else

Manoj is effectively accuses Prasad of doing nothing. Therefore, if we are to follow his statements, we cannot blame him for making bowlers worse. Moreover, there is no proof that Prasad's coaching has caused the regression in our fast bowlers talents. Someone like RP Singh was always inconsistent in line, Irfan Pathan's form slump came pre-Prasad, etc. Blaming him for Ishant's loss in speed is rather unfair too. The implication from many is that because Prasad was a medium pacer, he is trying to turn others into medium pacers, and I'm sure the majority can see that such an assertion is naive.

Calling Prasad a useless bowler is to misunderstand the role he played in the Indian team as a second pace bowler when India only had Srinath to rely on. To note that because he was known for his slower leg cutter, therefore he can only teach such is more misunderstanding. A good coach does not have to be a good player. Prasad is an ECB Level III qualified coach and his experience in bowling to top batsmen in Indian conditions as well as years of FC cricket can help provide a mentor role and look to concentrate on the mental side of cricket. It is not like Prasad will be changing bowler's actions (despite some of the assumptions made on ICF), he is not an expert in that. However, once you reach international cricket, the action should be left alone, unless there is an obvious risk of injury (mixed action) such as the very early Ishant Sharma.

Rope in Bruce Reid. He worked wonders with our bowlers in his first stint in 03/04 when we toured Oz under Ganguly. The only issue would be if he is willing to do tours.
Although I cannot comment precisely since I did not witness Reid's coaching, obviously but it must be noted that India's bowlers were tremendously impressive in the 2007/8 tour of Australia (pretty sure the year is right, but you know the tour I mean). Irfan and RP Singh hooped the ball and this was the advent of Ishant Sharma. Surely you must credit Prasad for this if you are to credit Reid for 03/4.

Who dropped 10kph? Nehra was only temporarily 145kph in the high altitude of South Africa, highly in his stride and even on this tour has clocked over 140kph. RP Singh was 145kph in the World T20, also in South Africa, but either side of that tournament (before and after), bowls at 130kph. Ishant Sharma was quick in Australia, but the high altitude there and Channel 9 speed guns put everyone's pace up. Moreover, he had no fatigue from what is an extraordinarily demanding international schedule then and does now due to playing of quite a bit of ODI cricket. Any others?

Well, no. A bowling coach cannot magically improve bowlers. If we are to blame him for these poor performances, we must also give him infinite credit for England 2007 and Australia 2007/8 - it works both ways! Moreover, noting to 'blast or fool the batsman out' instead of 'bore him out' is to simply misunderstand the intricacies of playing cricket.

I exactly said that technical (inswing, outswing, etc) work does not need (and should not need) to be done along with the international team but to note that all international pace bowlers must be able to swing the balls both ways is really naive. Most of us have seen this change in Ishant's action, but is it a conscious change, unlikely - is it due to fatigue causing him to use different muscles to get the ball down, or some other indirect cause - likely.

You note that an international bowling coach should not teach the basic skills and yet you have Pont in there who creates bowling actions (if I may oversimplify), Lillee who has a similar job, Tyson who is a biomechanist, and Donald who has a similar role at Warwickshire (very non technical) to what many percieve Prasad's current role to be. I suggest you rethink your knee-jerk, scathing criticism.

I would take a baggage handler as my team's bowling a coach over a blatant, match-fixing cheat who sold his country's collective soul for a few thousand dollars and was as shameless enough to invite some of his ex-mates over to his house, secretly videotape all their casual conversations and then sell it to an online portal. Its shame that this guy is even allowed to publicly open his mouth.

Prasad is good only for his fake accents. Have you seen his interviews. He would concentrate on putting an accent so much he would not know what the heck he is talking about. India should hire someone like Allan Donald. They can also keep Dennis Lillee as expert consultant.

Prasad the fu**ing coolie.........:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Seriously what has this guy done to deserve a bowling coach job.....he had only one illustrious moment in his career, getting Amir Sohail out in WC96 QF. And that was more because of Sohail's arrogancy than the coolie's bowling. Same things holds for Robin Singh. Who gave this fatso a fielding coach's job??? Jeez, a what joke!! :WTF:
