Venugopal Rao..is the *****iest player I have seen in the last 5 years who played 4 India. He is a v v v limited talent guy..... I am from HYD but I can frankly say that uninspiring players like him and Munaf bring the morale of the whole team down

Yep, this is going to be a long thread Going back over the last 15ish yrs if you look at the three main areas of concern- Pace bowling, openers and wicketkeepers (prior to MSD) just those 3 positions contain most of the candidates listed above Just to add to the names though- Dodda Ganesh anyone? Prashant Vaidya? And Mhambrey of course- club class pacemen at best David Johnson is a good call- married Shoaib Akhtars lack of control on a bad day with a pace of 75mph. Dasgupta was the worst of the many keepers we tried A no of the players started brightly- Khuraisiya- remember watching his debut ODI he scored a brisk 50 im sure, Bharadwaj was MoTS in his first series.

Dodda! :woot: How did I forget him? Sooda, a bunch of players started brightly because they got thrown into a kiddie pool against crap attacks on flat home pitches. Case in point: Devang 'de bang' Gandhi!

^ True. I think Debang played Zimbabwe at home on his debut, might have even scored a century. Then toured Aus in 99- Brett Lee and all. Poor guy. Sooda. Rohan Gavaskar, i believe didn't get a proper chance. At the time he was given chance, our middle order was filled with likes of dravid, yuvraj etc. Ganguly-Sachin already opening. Rotation policy those days never used to be applied either. I think had he been given chance little up, He would have done better. Gavaskar is still a good player
