Cricketics Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 After the list of players who would not have played started by some member, i thought about starting a thread of list of player who should have been given more chance to play for India. I believe Sadagoppan Ramesh deserved a call and should have been given a chance. After he was dropped from lankan series, he was nowhere seen and now is just anther Ranji player who playz for Assam. Retinder Singh Sodhi - Had he been properly looked after, he should have been a good ODI player for us.
Mr. Wicket Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Akash Chopra. Hemang Badani (for ODIs) Pravin Amre Vinod Kambli (for tests) Laxman Sivaramakrishnan

I really was dissapointed to see this guy getting completely ignored by the selectors. He should have been really good I still remember in my Brian Lara 96 Sega video game, I hit a triple century with his name in an odi game
urbestfriend Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 D. mohanty badrinath (he may not get another chance) murali karthik
vvvslaxman Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 S Ramesh (Funny that he was the second highest run getter in his very last tour. He was the highest run getter in his debut series against Akram, Younis, Saqlain).

DomainK Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I remember Ramesh hitting Wasim Akram through point and covers for fours with ease. He was a natural stroke player and a very good one. Really disappointing not to see him again.
Sooda Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Good idea this thread Kaif of course, sadly his career seems over despite scoring a big ton in WI 2 tests before he was dropped for good. Amre should come top of the list on this one. Bit before my time but seemed like a class act. Ramesh was a good strokeplayer but wasnt technically the soundest for an opener and kept throwing away good starts-much like the young Gambhir. I remember watching him vs Pak too, he actually opened with Laxman in one of the tests and they took Wasim and Waqar apart. He had a great series. For a short while it seemed like him and SS Das would be the answer to our opening conundrum. I think Salil mentioned Sriram on the other thread, but i think he was another player who should have been given a few matches more, but I guess our middle order had no room Among the more obscure ones which spring to mind- There was a batsman called Paranjpe who played his last ODI vs Pak in the Sahara cup, actually did ok that match then dropped, he should have been given a run Anyone remember Connor Williams? I thought he seemed like a solid test opener, played in the 'unofifcial' test in SAf after the whole ball tampering thing blew up. Then there are guys who never featured for India but perhaps should have V V Kumar supposed to be a great leggie think he only played one test back in the 60s, Shivalkar and Goel left arm spinners who never played because of all the great spinners we had back then
