He is the uniting force behind a team of talented youngsters. as we all know, teams from west indies have always been talented. With their talents, they used to win a few games when least expected, only to fail all over again. what they were missing in the last 2 decades is some strong leadership to make them win consistently. Richardson, Walsh, J Adams, Lara, Chanderpaul, Gayle, Sarwan, although individually good players, none of them were able to become a good leader and lead the team to success consistently. In this backdrop, Darren Ganga comes out as a strong leader. Although his contributions in this tournament have not been extra ordinary compared to his other colleagues, he has been decent in his batting and had lead the team with great insight and inspiration. Most of this bunch are young and can easily get carried away with their success/failure.. But Ganga has been the glue who has been keeping this unit together, giving them confidence, backing them for their abilities and helping them see the success. So I would attrtibute a big share of T&T's success to its captain Darren Gange. He has impressed me quite a lot.. 1. The way he exudes confidence about his team's ability at the toss and post match interviews. 2. The way he talks with passion about representating T&T as a nation and not just a state or club. He keeps saying "we are confident of going all the way"... 3. He gets wired up and talks to the commies even at tense situations in the game.. doesnt show any tension and is cool all the time.. A Very good temperament for a captain.. (in the match against DC, when Gilly was cutting lose, commies were asking how is it going.. he dint flinch and said, we just need to pick Gilly at this stage.. and as he was talking, Gilly sent one high up in the air.. and ganga started running "catch 'im polly.. catch 'im and once Pollard took the catch, he went and jupmed on the crowd that has already mobbed pollard. That was the most priceless moment for me in this tournament) Take a bow Darren Ganga :adore::adore::adore::adore::adore::adore::adore::adore: PS: Hope this post is not ridiculed as Ganga is a cow lasher, cos he is hardly one in that mould.. oh oh.. may be T20 haters will say he's just a shepherd of the cow lashers..

rkt.india Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 i liked Rossouw,clean striker with a good technique,on for the future. among indians,no one really except Veeru Sangwan bowled well in the last game. he had changed his action a bit and certainly gained some pace after that

Imo he would be the perfect choice to take on the role as the next captain of the West Indies team. Let those haters of 20 over cricket say what they will. They do not know what they are missing. The Champions League T20 was, and continues to be, more fun than that other 50 over ICC event, the Champions Trophy.

Ganga seems to be 10x better than the WI captains in the past decade including Gayle too.. but he is not a good batsman and has to be played as a specialist captain and that is a problem as mentioned by Ian Bishop

Darren Bravo Sherwin Ganga Rilee Rossouw CJ de Villers P Hughes Pollard Lendl Simmons A Thomas. I would love to see Daren Ganga captain an IPL team.

Expectations on his batting will be far less and he can concentrate on his captaincy.. given a chance I would go with Ganga given the state of WI cricket at this time..
