6 wickets today. Must be included in squads to SA and Eng for tests, as did really well in england last time we toured. I tell you RP SWING is very talented bowler and should def be in squad and pushing for 3rd seamer spot

Not yet KT. Needs to produce more such performances. Has picked a 5-er after a long time and should make him confident now. WOuld be interesting to read what pace he bowled at as his pace was down to 120s recently. If only he could sort out his fitness a little more, the pace, the zip everything will comeback.

Expressing a desire to play test cricket is one thing and turning out for your home team in Ranji matches is another!! Nehra has refused to play even Ranji matches for Delhi, wonder why you want him as a test match bowler. It's more than 2 years now since nehra last played a first class match.

Guys like RPS can be handy if only they improved rather than regressed. Most of our bowlers like Munaf, RPS, Ishant come in with a bang and get worse with each match. Not sure what is our secret.

I always thought Praveen Kumar should get a chance in test. He is a pretty unique bowler. He might have spinner like bowling speed, and hence i call him unique. Even with that spinner like action. he prodcues a speed of 120+ and add to that the guy swings on 9 out of 10 pitches. Doesn't need the so called "bowling conditions" to produce good swinging deliveries. He has helped UP improve in Ranji and I am sure his tit bits in bowling would help India too in test. I would definately like to see him get a debut in test.

Looks like we differ on that one mighty big . Since you claim Pee Kay bowls at 120kmph I have a proposal. How about not allowing Pee Kay anywhere closer than 120km of the Indian Test team where a Test match is being held. That should take care of it. Thanks but no thanks.

Venkatesh Prasad the long time Indian bowling coach has rated Ishant Sharma as the best prospect and the one with the best attitude among all the young Indian pacemen that always strives towards improving on his bowling and working on his fitness. That should help in taking Ishant a long way. The same cannot be said of RP Singh. A very good left arm swing bowler he can be a real pain in the behind for the coaches. I was told by the people in the Deccan chargers camp the team he plays for in the IPL he along with Rohit Sharma are very high in maintenance and hard to get them to train hard. RP Singh to have any kind of a sustained test career having the most demanding of jobs in cricket bowling pace he needs to show more dedication shed 16-17 pounds from the present levels and then keep taking wickets in the FC level for a season and kind of take it from there. One or two games is hardly any kind of a decent sample size to gauge a bowler. Also the sort of musical chairs we sometimes seem to play while selecting the pace bowlers will not work in the long run.

there's noone in the radar as a third seamer apart from Ishant, which is quite sad considering he needs a break from int'l cricket to sort out his bowling (pbly a stint in Eng like Zaheer).. Is there a Younis Khan in the Indian team who can play the role of a 'third seamer' (our definition: fill in the overs when the main bowlers are taking a breather)..(cough) Dhoni

This guy must be in windies test squad. Cant believe he has not been selcted and jokers like mithun have. Reports of his so called demise are very exaggerated. I saw IPL and he looked in great nick, bowling with good pace and was geating his trade maek swing and control. Would have caused havoc in windies and would have been great to have in England were he had great success previous.

The concerns I believe are related to his fitness and those are genuine concerns IMO. During the domestic season gone by, RPS struggled in his 2nd and 3rd spells, the pace used to be way down and his control was lacking. He looked fitter in IPL and even the pace was up but I don't think the selectors want to repeat the mistake of 2009 with him. Back then he was drafted into the team on the back of his IPL showing in SA, but he proved to be a huge disappointment.

Selectors know that he is a good bowler, but they want him to stay out and get to know that if you want to play for Team India, you need to earn it and if you do not perform or settle your attitude you have no place.

What exactly has RP done to merit a test selection? This isn't the mickey mouse sing along club. It's a Test Series with one of the best teams top ranked India has faced in a while in their back yard. The team/captain need proven, in form performers not maybes, ifs, and potential. I'd rather have Munaf Patel as a serious candidate for the 3rd seamer. I know it's not the same format but in the past few months: - He's been one of the top strike/wicket taking bowlers in the world cup. - 2nd top wicket taker in the IPL. - And in the ongoing Windies series top wicket taker. All this guy has done for months is bowl economically in power play overs against top order batsmen and get buckets of wickets. He's developed into one of the most accurate bowlers in the game, constantly hitting that off stump line and that is what gets you wickets in test matches. Gimme that ANY DAY over some left arm seamer who hasn't played any international cricket for years.

Even when he was bowling well , he was very expensive and not a great wicket taker in tests, he is such a lazy player with no work ethic, unless he changes that and improves his physical conditioning there is no point in having in the team. There is no excuse for these guys not be fit, they have so much to play for and any decent fast bowler is sure shot of getting into team India as there is no body to block these guys like we have in batting and yet guys like Sreesanth and RP and Ishant have not taken full advantage of it. Ishant is in the team we will know if he has learnt anything from being out of the team.
