King Tendulkar Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Yes thats right I rate RP Singh very highy and feel he has suffered from playing too much limited overs cricket. For me he is a test bowler. When we need a 3rd seamer which will be required for tests overseas I will go for RP. As in test Sree and ZK are lock ins. RP is my 3rd seamer as I feel his quality. He has good wheels in mid/high 80s, gets the ball to talk both ways and is real exponent of reverse swing. He is a real wicket taker and is perfect for tests. He has also got aggressive attitude which I like. I would reunite him with zk and sree to form the trio pace attack which gave us success in SA and England tours. The other contenders are Ishant and maybe Tyagi. But at 24 and with his abilty RP is someone who simply can't be dicarded. He should be back in for his favoured test match role. I know he has performed not up to scratch in last year in limited overs but the guy is still a serious bowler imo. I fully back RP SWING to come back soon and to show his real worth.
Cricketics Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I always thought Praveen Kumar should get a chance in test. He is a pretty unique bowler. He might have spinner like bowling speed, and hence i call him unique. Even with that spinner like action. he prodcues a speed of 120+ and add to that the guy swings on 9 out of 10 pitches. Doesn't need the so called "bowling conditions" to produce good swinging deliveries. He has helped UP improve in Ranji and I am sure his tit bits in bowling would help India too in test. I would definately like to see him get a debut in test.
urbestfriend Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 HaHaHa; Now a thread for RP :haha: Safe insurance to bump in the future.:haha: My choice for 3rd seamer would be Ishant.Hopefully he'll get back his form. I'd rate RP as good bowler , he can extract some movement with a good speed, but he hasn't been performing well these days in FC matches. In my view RP and Munaf has to fight it out for backup position.
jusarrived Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Ishant just needs some rest . Sree and Sharma are at par when it comes to talent , only that the former has experience .
King Tendulkar Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Ishant needs 12 months away from team. He will benefit from that! RP is the man. Although want to see Tyagi tried in odis so can see what he is all about.
urbestfriend Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Tyagi for test is no-no untill he performs in ODI. His FC record is no great to induct him directly into test. Ishant can be rested for BD series but I'm sure he can get back his form for future tours.
bunny Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 PK for me too. The guy is a lock to pick a wicket or two every match. And on a seaming wicket he will be unplayable. Once played, he will also understand his shortcomings, and hopefully rectify them in the near future.
S.Bond Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 When playing abroad, i think the next thing india shuld try is playing two spinners, two fast bowler + irfan pathan in the place of yuvi. If he doesn't come good then change him, but at least give him another chance...
flamy Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Ya, RP and PK must be given some chances in the Test arena to test the waters.
The Outsider Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 The way he is bowling he'll struggle to be the third seamer for UP! :winky:

diegovegaz Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 rpsingh is not a test match bowler only he has the ability to perform in all 3 versions he just needs something from the wicket he's a must when india tours outside the subcontinent
champ Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 as long as the munafs and nehras are kept out .. i dont mind anyone else .. but RP is good for t20 only i feel ..
Show_stopper Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 The guy has the least control of where the ball lands among all our bowlers..don't blame him with that action of his! He was good for a period of 3 months (Eng tour and WC 07 T20)..apart from that there has been nothing to suggest he is a good bowler throughout his career.
rkt.india Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 RP is rubbish, not able to take wickets even in ranji
King Tendulkar Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 6 wickets today. Must be included in squads to SA and Eng for tests, as did really well in england last time we toured. I tell you RP SWING is very talented bowler and should def be in squad and pushing for 3rd seamer spot
The Dark Horse Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 lol one good performance and you want him in the squad?

I tell you RP SWING is very talented bowler and should def be in squad and pushing for 3rd seamer spot Let him get some more in Ranji. I would prefer PK ahead of RP. For UP he mostly outbowls RP nowadays. It's just that he wasn't playing this match, I don't know for whatever reason.
Sooda Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 He needs one whole good season in Ranji- this was just one match vs Orissa- for now Mithun is ahead in the ol pecking order.
