vvvslaxman
You should toss aside stats when it comes to Sehwag. It is the sheer butchery that comes to your mind. Nothing more. Nothing less. I don't doubt Hayden can do that as well on his day. But Sehwag leaves a lasting impact with you by destroying bowlers for 90 overs. Link to comment
Lord
hayden has more centuries Sehwag has more double centuries Link to comment

chinnamama
Hayden has more matches!! but compare the matches when sehwag made his debut in 2001 to when Hayden retired Hayden has more centuries in this period and was the highest run getter in tests for calender year 2 or 3 times Link to comment
Andy
but compare the matches when sehwag made his debut in 2001 to when Hayden retired Hayden has more centuries in this period and was the highest run getter in tests for calender year 2 or 3 times Hayden never made his Debut in 2001!! Chck ur stats!! Sehwag played less matches dan him!! Link to comment

S.Bond
I think mathew hayden, he has 30 centuries in just 184 innings and more runs thant sehwag, sehwag is not far away, he will maybe get to his level... And i dont think usisng stats like strike rate or number of runs per innings is good you to compare these two, because in both stats lara ends up in front of tendulkar Link to comment
bhanu
tbh if sehwag gets going lol then its very hard to stop him like he goes @ 100 mph with break fail...i really havent seen hayden play...but his stats speaks for himself.... Link to comment
chinnamama
Hayden never made his Debut in 2001!! Chck ur stats!! Sehwag played less matches dan him!! every one knows when Hayden made his debut i told to compare records when Sehwag made his debut to when Hayden retiered Nov 2001 to Jan 2009 Clearly Hayden has got more hundreds Sehwag http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35263.html?class=1;spanmax1=10+Jan+2009;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround Hayden http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/5616.html?class=1;spanmin1=31+oct+2001;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround agreed Hayden played more matches but his rate of centuries to the matches played is more Link to comment
ViruRulez
Hayden has completed international cricket while Veeru is still in the mid of his career... so cannot compete in this as it is unfair comparision Link to comment

yoda
Hayden WAS great. Sehwag IS great. Both will be considered as greats historically speaking. Personally I hate Hayden. Link to comment
coffee_rules
Not looking at stats, I have a feeling Hayden was more consistent. I want to compare their < 50 score average. If we compute the average of all their scores < 50, Sehwag seems to give up his wkt easily than Haydos. Link to comment
coffee_rules
stats say: Hayden: unfiltered 1994-2009 103 8625 380 50.73 30 0 - - 0 128 0 Profile filtered 1994-2009 84 2469 50 21.10 0 - - - - - - Sehwag: unfiltered 2001-2009 72 6248 319 52.50 17 30 5/104 43.73 1 56 0 Profile filtered 2001-2009 61 1698 50 19.74 0 - - - - - - Sehwag is lesser, bu not much. but a 2 pt difference gives us some clue, sehwag is less consistent. Sehwag can still come back as Haydoens's career is over. Link to comment

Sehwag can still come back as Haydoens's career is over. The otheer problem is sehwag's strike rate, even when making litle scores ike scores under 35, sehwg has a strike rate of 77, that means he loses his wickets early and put the one down batsman in front of the nw ball, where a shayden, he starts carefully to negociate the nw ball and then accelerate.... But i do'nt think it is good to compare then for the moment hayden is wayy in front, but sehwag has time on his side Link to comment

Its 15 matches and 30 innings!! The differance is due to the fact dat Sehwag made his Debut in Nov 2001 and u are measuring hayden's performance frm March 2001. So obvioulsy Hayden will have more tons as he has more matches!! Now lets compare Hayden frm the day Sehwag made his start as an opener!! Dats frm July 2002 Hayden has played 67 matches and have got 20 tons . http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/5616.html?class=1;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=140;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=default;spanmin1=25+Jul+2002;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround And Sehwag has played 57 matches and got 14 tons!! . http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35263.html?class=1;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=default;spanmax1=9+Jan+2009;spanmin1=25+Jul+2002;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround . So here again we have differance of 10 matches = 20 innings!! This way u can never compare them!! Link to comment
