They shopuld never have been in that situation in the first place. thats the difference Umar gets way too much credit for doing what is expected from a normal batsm,an in any other team..but in Pakistan's case it looks like some major achievement thanks to their frail batting unit. Btw kohli got an unbeaten 79 on the same pitch with Roach and Tongs. Where did I question Kholi's talent? It's you guys who are obsessed with degrading Pakistani players, irrespective of talent and potential.

Murali Vijay played at a good SR even in tests and I think Murali Vijay would suit in ODIs too if needed in the future .. wont comment on Pujara as I have not seen him bat neither seen his stats in ODIs or T20 that was the test team yar , i dont really care much about ODI's ..there are at least a dozen batsmen who can make into the ODI side , we wont have too many issues there . Vijay is fine , but not entirely convinced

And by all accounts it looks like Murali Vijay will be the first guy breaking into the line-up. when you have flawless technique like Kohli and Rohit , its never too early to talk about Test cricket . thee two are much better than Dravid , VVS or Ganguly at similar age , only tendulkar an exception , so i see no reason these guys cant do better than Dravid/vvs/Ganguly . Vijay might break in first , but hes no way in the same class as Rohit ,Kohli or even Raina for that matter

Note: I'm not saying he is no good or that he isn't above average. Just feel virat will prove to be better in the long run due to better technique. The title of the thread is Virat better than Umar Akmal, it's as if you're 100 % on that thought.

Whereas the comparaison with umar akmal... Maybe in the future we can compare them but not for at least 2,3 years, as virat kholi will not play test cricket soon... It's like saying David hussey is better than your laxman, ganguly and many others... Just because he has better first class recrds... Umar akal is going to have about 6 test centuries, 2200 runs when UNFORTUNATELY kohli is going to start playin REAL CRICKET = TEST CRICKET.... But again, according to me, virat is very good, he should pay instead of yuvraj in the test team and raina in the ODI team...

And no one will be dropped...

He is a MUST ... Sehwag,Yuvi, Raina, Y.Pathan, Kohli are no mug with the bowl( as a fifth bowling option) and Y.Pathan/Sehwag are better spinners than Jadeja. Imagine the below batting line-up... But a 100 on a flat track is not the parameter to judge a young talent. He deserves the applause for having played under pressure and taking us through' date=' but let us just wait for some more time and some more innings where when the going is really tough and see how Virat performs then. I am sure he will do well but i would like to hold my cards close to my chest until he succeeds although i will be wishing secretly that he does perform well :winky:[/quote'] I think u guys are forgetting his innings of 79 in CT on a very bouncier and pacier pitch against Gavin tonge and Kemar Roach who were bowling very quick and batting wasn't that easy on that wicket
