I actually commend the crowd for not going absolutely loco which was a very grim possibility given the pathetic state of affairs. I was in the corporate box and knew what was happening on the TV but the people in other stands had no idea whatsoever. There was no announcement at all. All the big stuffy suits were moving around like headless chickens. Can't blame frustrated fans for throwing a few bottles and chucking a few seat covers. Big deal.

There is a big difference. Eden Gardens crowd's behavior from my memory 1) Kapil dev dropping in 1984/85 series. Booed sunny all the way 2) 1996 world cup 3) 1999 against Paksitan. stadium had to be emptied 4) Couple of years back they were rooting for South Africa because Ganguly was not included. I am sure couple of places like Jamshedpur, Gauhati got involved in crowd problems. But Kolkatta is a whole different cup of tea.

Can never forgive them for that. They carried black flags instead of tricolor and started cheering everytime SA hit 4/6 or picked up a wicket. Shameful act. Delhi crowd's behavior is not justifiable but up to certain extent understandable. Masses have poured out to watch a DEAD RUBBER and if they are denied to witness men in blue in action for the last time in this year then it is totally rip off for them. I am sure they would have not been this angered had the game being cancelled due to rain but it was cancelled due to the idiots in DDCA office who were selling tickets without an iota of sense that this wicket is not playable. And what's with "your city's crowd is more crude than ours" BS going around ? Doesn't matter which city is involved, any bad antics look bad upon India as a nation :wall:.

kolkatta has the worst crowd. WC SF 96 , Test against Pak, ganguly excluded game are 3 of the the top 5 worst moments in cricket and crowd incidents. Its only better than the paki crowd that hurt Srikanth and Inzi beating up a fan. I was hoping the eden gardens would be blacklisted and am glad that the next WC finals in not there.

Delhi crowd's behavior is not justifiable but up to certain extent understandable. Masses have poured out to watch a DEAD RUBBER and if they are denied to witness men in blue in action for the last time in this year then it is totally rip off for them. Completely agree man, I really do understand the frustrations of the crowds for the reasons you give. It really is some callous behavior on part of the DDCA, pathetic really.

What the **** are you trying to say....STFU and dont pass judgments like that. I am an Indian and am no less patriotic than u. Patriotism is not about throwing bottles and booing ur own team. Dont even compare the Kolkata crowd with anyother, they have been a national disgrace. It hurts as it is a city with a great sporting legacy from football to cricket and not because I am trying to deride its reputation vis-a-vis other cities.
