From my mailbox... India was the only team to be dismissed twice in a single day of test match until the Zims offered us company in 2005/06. India vs England 1952 Zim vs NZ Tony Lewis of England is I think, the first and last player who has captained his national side on his test Debut. He made his debut and captained the English side against India. 319.player.jpg The 3W's were born within a mile of the Kensington oval, within a year of each other and delivered by the same midwife. CK Nayudu once hit the ball into the River Rhea when playing at Edgbaston. Since the river is the boundary between Warwickshire and Worcestershire he is the only batsman to have sent a cricket ball from one county to another. On the day of the India-Windies final in the '83 World Cup a spectator asked Sir Garfield Sobers for an autograph. Sobers denied it saying that day was India's day. Anthony Stuart took 5 wickets including a hat trick in his third ODI for Australia. He never played for the Aussies again. Martin Crowe made an uncredited appearance in his cousin Russell Crowe's Oscar-winning movie, Gladiator. Martin, father Dave, brother Jeff, uncle Alex and cousin Terry, all got dressed up as senators and featured during a day's shooting in the Coliseum, although they were never to be seen in the final edit. This was while they were visiting Russell who was shooting in Malta.
was this before the game or after it?

It is a reasonably long list. The last such player was Lee Germon in 1995/6 (excepting Naimur Rahman). A father and son - Frank Mann & George Mann - played for England in 5 & 7 Tests and captained in all of them. George Mann's son Simon Mann was jailed for 5 years in Equatorial Guinea for trying to engineer a coup before being pardoned recently. Among his co-conspirators was Mark Thatcher, son of Dame Margaret. India have CK Nayudu (the first Test), Maharajkumar of Vizianagram (3 Tests, all as captain) and Pataudi Sr (3 Tests, all as captain for India; but had played for England already)

Yeh I think so. I remember a commentator mentioning it during a match, something to do with a bowler trying to intimidate him while he was batting and he responded with something along the lines of, "I've been shot at, do you really think I'm gonna be scared of you"

I think that was Botham and Ian Chappell
I think it was Botham and Chappell as well. They didn't talk to eachother for over 20 years after that.

I guess everyone knows this, nevertheless military service is not as common as say the Bradman era. Ajantha Mendis saw active military service as a gunner with the Sri Lankan Artillery, a regiment of the Sri Lankan Army. He had been promoted to rank of Sergeant and then commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.

Virender Sehwag was facing Pakistan’s medium-fast bowler Abdul Razzaq, who was reverse-swinging the ball, and Sehwag handled that in his unique "JAT" way: “Sehwag came up to (his batting mate Jeremy) Snape and said: ‘We must lose this ball. I have a plan’. Next over he whacked the ball clean out of the ground, forcing umpires to pick another from the box that would obviously not reverse straight away. To which Sehwag said: ‘We are alright for one hour.’
