I know what you are trying to say but my point is that racism is racism irrespective of who practices it, be it Indians or Australians. 1000+ attacks against Indians in last year or so and you telling me that there is no race angle involved? For the police to say that race has nothing to do with the attacks is also bollocks.

I'm sure not everyone is racist in Aus....ya there are racists but how many racists convert their words into action which leads to crime? if you walk around with ipods/laptops/fancy cell phone with nice clothes in poor/crime neighborhoods or in the middle of the night...you'll obviously get attacked.

Presented below are a few facts the retards spreading this hysteria neglect Melbourne is NOT Australia, Melboune is one city in Australia and Melboune has the unfortunate reputation of being the nation's criminal and gangland underbelly. There is a large Indian population in Melbourne. In other major cities, such as Adelaide, Perth, Hobart etc, such incidents are minimal to non existant. Since the first few attacks were racist, every attack on Indians since than have automatically been branded racist whilst investigations are ongoing and the evidence suggested the attacks to be opportunistic crimes. Those that are assaulted, they contribute to their own woes -They live in dangerous / seedy suburbs, walk alone at night times and draw un necessary attention to themselves. In other words, they present themselves as easy targets.

The guy is free but the poor woman got beaten up by him today again at home. Doctors live in the neighboring apartments who happen to be her husband's brother... what did they do ... nothing .. Mother in law asks her pls dont tell anyone .. badnami hogi ..,she fears .. ke bache apnay baap ko miss kuraingay .. My buddies and I were livid with anger at their audacity at everything, spending money on pitchers of beer when we drank by the mug, paying more for movie tickets without standing in line when we stood in the hot sun , making passes at women yet holding their high. Im sure Australians some of them at least feel the same way, in that the Indian person has come to their shores with an advantage that being education plus theyre coming in huge numbers. Its bound to instill a bit of negativity. I guess the problem for them is theyre mostly racially homogeneous unlike the US they dont have the sensitivities of racial understanding.

The funny thing is that you are generalising the Indian society based on something that happened to your relative but are taking umbrage when the families of Indians attacked or the media accuse your beloved Australia of inaction against these 'not related to race' (:hysterical:) crimes. And based on your 'logic' (because it also happens in India we should bow down and let the Aussies thrash us and not say a word), if this relative of yours who got beaten up has a brother who beats his wife,then she has no right to complain and should suffer the beatings in silence. But desi, giving out same opinion as Sree is quite illogical. Gunner has asked before what does this issue have to do with anything that goes in India ? We are talking about Australia, who are claiming Australia as a safe land for Indian students (who in turn are helping the Aussie economy, IIRC Indian students contribute $2bn/year). Even if we consider the attacks are not racially motivated, what exactly has the Australian/Melbourne police done to inquire why the victims are Indians (in most of the cases) ? About 1,447 Indians were victims of reported crime in Victoria, do you guys really believe these were opportunistic street crime ?
