graphic23
rohit sharma <= kohli/raina Fixed it for you. Virat's record for first class: First-class 24 35 6 1617 197 55.75 2884 56.06 5 6 229 8 21 0 Rohit's First-class 35 50 4 2462 309* 53.52 7 10 22 0 Not much separating them. If you look at their respective List-A records, no guess on who comes out well on top. If you think Rohit did well in Australia against the world's best team at the time, Kohli has done extremely well on his first tour to Sri Lanka facing Mendis and Murali (who flummoxed all the playing legends of Indian cricket). vvvslaxman
On top of that Kohli is mentally much stronger and also he has better temperament. Rohit is good on surfaces where ball is coming on nicely. On sluggish surfaces, dual paced surfaces he just doesn't get his timing right. Link to comment
punjabi_khota
Kohli was by far the highest scorer in the emerging player's tourney in australia, where finey's former and current love interest badri and murali vijay were playing too. Link to comment

patriot
Nohit Sharma is a 22 yr old lazy fat f***, who is always a couple of good knocks way from finding himself in the Indian squad and even the playing XI. His paunch resembles that of a 3 month pregnant woman. For a 22 yr old, his attitude towards fitness is a disgrace to the modern Indian cricketer. Link to comment
cowboysfan
selection for SA tests : Dravid, Yuvraj doubtful, chance for youngsters? rohit has shown no mental fortitude in international cricket at all,he has also let himself go.It would not send a good message to other hopefuls if they picked him. Sooda
:hysterical::hysterical: Yes Sir! And why not? http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=180189&highlight=Kaif Averaged 48 last year and 57 the year before in domestic cricket, let alone being the captain of one of the best state sides. I do think Kaif has been very harshly treated for a little while now. He was picked in a squad to play Seth Africa when SRT got injured last year but then dosent get in any further ones. Crapola gits like Badrinath get in the squad, who cant even score against emerging teams. Kaif meanwhile proves himself in tests in a crisis-as he did when he had a good series vs Aus in 04 which SHOULD have seen him play a bit more, But dropped again until that 91 versus England at Nagpur nearly 2 years later, followed by a good series in WI where he scored a pretty good ton and then is dropped for good to pave way for Ganguly. Yes the big names are all better batsmen. But surely he should be on the fringes, ahead of middle order candiddates like Badri or Raina He played well vs Aus in a tour match last year apparently with a new free-er scoring technique. So. Why not Kaif...? Scored a ton yesterday to help C Zone from 150 / 6 after a double hundred the other day, so he's in form Link to comment
yoda
waiting for dsr to show up and ask if Kaif has learnt to hold the bat now :giggle: Link to comment
Sooda
India should try this team. Good balance. 4 all rounders. wicket keeping all rounder. Solid openers. Jaffer Uthappa Kaif Rohan Gavaskar Dinesh Mongia Parthiv patel (WK/opener) Joginder Agarkar Sunil Joshi Gony Nehra Good squad but Id find a place for S S Das as he is more of an opener than Uthappa and perhaps give Amol Muzumadar the go he deserves. ViruRulez
Only tomorrow till it be confirmed whether Dravid and Laxman are available or not. UV will anyways not be missed. So, if Dravid and Laxman are fit somehow then there is no problem with team selection. But in case they are missed then I think the people who should replace them are Badri and Raina. Link to comment
zen
My 11 considering everyone is available (and fit) For a sporting or flat pitch: - Viru - GG - Dravid - Tendulkar - Laxman - Dhoni - Jadeja - Mishy - Zak - Ishant - Sree Jadeja plays as an all-rounder. Hopefully he won't bowl any worse than Bhajji and Ojha and probably bat as well as Yuvi .... Playing Jadeja also allows Ind to play 3 pacers. What I like about the pace attack is that it offers a good variety in a left armer, a line and length bowler and a swing/reverse swing bowler For an absolute turner: - Viru - GG - Dravid - Tendulkar - Laxman - Badri / Panday / Kohli / UV - Dhoni - Mishy - Zak - Bhajji / Ojha / Chawla / ? - Ishant / Sree Link to comment
zubinpepsi
^^ actually jadeja is not a bad option.. i think he can play long inninngs.. just that he cant he 6s.. in test we dont need tht.. jadeja's batting is best suited for test.. and i think hes also a much better bowler than harby and ojha... Feed
Dravid and Laxman may be fit It's not official, but the national selectors appear to have got an indication that both Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman would be available for the two-Test series against South Africa. More... Dravid and Laxman may be fit LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI Calcutta: It’s not official, but the national selectors appear to have got an indication that both Rahul Dravid and V.V.S. Laxman would be available for the two-Test series against South Africa. Krishnamachari Srikkanth and his colleagues (Yashpal Sharma, Narendra Hirwani, Surendra Bhave and Raja Venkat) will be meeting in Mumbai, on Thursday, to choose XV for the Tests in Nagpur and in Calcutta. There would be a big hole in the Team India line-up if even one of the senior pros isn’t fit for what promises to be a memorable series, starting February 6, between the top two teams. Laxman got injured first, while fielding on the fourth day of the Chittagong Test; Dravid ducked into a Shahadat Hossain bouncer on Day II of the Test in Dhaka, which finished with a 10-wicket win for India. Dravid, in fact, had to be hospitalised as the blow fractured a jaw bone. He left for home on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after the series was emphatically won 2-0. [On reaching Bangalore, via Mumbai, Dravid said: “We’ll see how it goes over the next couple of days... I’ll be consulting doctors and the physios.”] “There’s been no formal communication from the Board, but it seems the selectors have been given to understand that both Dravid and Laxman are going to be available... They’ve probably begun planning keeping that in mind,” a well-placed source told The Telegraph. Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli may come into the picture if one of the seniors can’t be picked. Yuvraj Singh and Sreesanth, though, are unlikely to be fit for the Tests. Yuvraj has torn a cartilage on his left wrist. As for Sreesanth, he’s recovering from a hamstring injury. The squad in Bangladesh had XVI players and the one who doesn’t really come into the reckoning is ‘all-rounder’ Dinesh Karthik. Subramaniam Badrinath (Tamil Nadu) is likely to take Yuvraj’s place, while Karnataka’s right-arm quick, Abhimanyu Mithun, is being talked about as most suited to replace Sreesanth. Badrinath has featured in Test squads before, but the 20-year-old Mithun, who was outstanding in the recent Ranji final against Mumbai, is an absolute rookie. Playing in his first season of first-class cricket, Mithun took nine wickets (six in the second innings) in the final. That brought Karnataka right back in the match. Eventually, Mumbai won by as few as six runs. Meanwhile, Bengal’s wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha is expected to make the Board President’s XI, which is to face South Africa in a two-day match, in Nagpur, preceding the Test series. LIKELY XV FOR THE TEST SERIES (Assuming Dravid, Laxman are fit) Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Murali Vijay; Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, V.V.S. Laxman, Subramaniam Badrinath; Mahendra Singh Dhoni; Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha; Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Sudeep Tyagi, Abhimanyu Mithun. Note: Squad as of Wednesday evening.
