I am almost sure that he can never gain test match fitness again. And I for one blame it to him playing IPL in 2011 season. He has truly wasted his talent because he was one bowler who could have actually gone on to become one of the left arm greats. I don't think he would give up on such a bad note. He would be back for sure.

Cash from the IPL should be used for the overall betterment of the game.

He wont even be recovered till december which is when aus tour starts

Not sure about ODIs. If BCCI and Dhoni wisen up, both Umesh and Varun will be playing in Australia as well. Those two bowled well in the recent emerging players tournament held in Australia.

I'd be more than happy if that happens. I have my doubts though. I somehow do not see him being able to run in again with the same fervor. No one becomes a great bowler by 2-3 good years these days. I meant in Indian context. And even if you count by international standards, he sure could have gone on to be counted as one of the better left armers.

Injuries happen to every fast bowler and his latest ankle injury is a pretty serious one so I wouldn't expect him back soon. But he's shown he can come back before very effectively so I'm not going to count him out.
