If that is the case it was right to leave him out. Uthappa was not in any great form in the domestic. It was Pandey who was in scorching form. Even Vijay was in very good form in the domestic cricket.

Form or not guys like Uthappa are made for this format and are a must at a minimum in the probables. Leaving him out of the 30 was pretty dumb.

Though both captain and coach were keen on Irfan, the main objection to his selection was that he hadn't been picked in the list of 30 probables that Pakistan had sent to the ICC

Sad for Veeru getting out Would have liked Uthappa to get chance instead But not too dissatisfied with Vijay too .. this will pave the way for Vijay to enter in the ODI squad soon if he can prove somewhat in WC T20 .. not a brilliant step but surely a good step

BTW Zee News having a field day today .. they seems to be continuing their IPL hate campaign all throughout .. today they even went on to say "ye dekhiye IPL kaise desh ka dushman hai.. ye dekhiye" and kept on showing Veeru's pictures .. they seem to settling the ICL thing :P

Vijay is also an excellent striker of the ball. so there is very little reason to complain here apart from uthappa's previous international experience. vijay has a strike rate of 158, uthappa's is 170 also they have struck 25 and 23 sixes respectively. shows very little between them when it comes to striking the ball. vijay has a stronger foundation in his game.so he and rohit shud be ahead of uthappa always.

Veeru might not have achieved same heights as Tendulkar has, but he gives confidence and hope to the team in almost same amount as tendulkar does to the rest of his team mates. Him not being there will hurt our team. We will need to perform way way better then what we did last time in England without Veeru. We sucked that time. Hopefully the players will surprise all of us and win the cup.

Why so much love for Uthappa? People question RS, for saying he has done nothing for India and only IPL. This same question could be asked about Uthappa and also RS has consistently perform at least in IPL unlike Uthappa who just he is making headlines for 1-2 innings. Also people forget we are selecting a team not individuals, it is stupid to select 10 openers as batmans in a squad. In a team, there are openers, stabiliers, and finishers . And Uthappa belong to finishers which we have plenty( YP, UV,Dhoni and even Kartick) so not much use for him
