Zelig Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 ESS lines up battery of commentators for Twenty20 WC Cricket fans in 181 territories globally have the chance to see the best players in the world as ESPN Star Sports (ESS) builds up for the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies. The event will be shown for the first time in Afghanistan via terrestrial broadcaster in local languages of Pashto and Dari. ESS' commentary panel consists of Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Harsha Bhogle, Alan Wilkins, Ramiz Raja, Ian Bishop, Simon Doull, Ian Chappell, David Lloyd, Nasser Hussain and Pommie Mbangwa. Also, following her successful stints commentating during the ICC Women’s World Cup and ICC World Twenty20 last year, former Australia captain Melanie Jones will join the team for the women’s matches. The 17-day tournament, which kicks off on 30 April, will feature 12 men’s and eight women’s teams. All 27 matches in the men’s event will be covered live by ESS while both women’s semi-finals and the final will also be beamed around the globe giving similar exposure to women’s Twenty20 cricket as it so successfully received at last year’s event in England. In addition, live streaming of the broadcast will be available free of cost in 76 territories including India, China and Argentina on espnstar.com. In total, there will be 25 cameras used as standard during each match of the event in three venues in Guyana, St Lucia and Barbados. That is not including six Hawk Eye cameras that will give viewers an intimate perspective on all the key moments in the tournament. ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat says, “Apart from providing entertainment and economics for the global game, the ICC World Twenty20 is one of the ways we are reaching out and spreading the message of cricket across the world." ESS MD Manu Sawhney said, “The ICC World Twenty20 is the most exciting and definitive Twenty20 international cricket event in the world and we are very pleased to bring the action to fans in over 181 territories across the globe through our networks, our syndication partners and specially with live streaming on espnstar.com in certain countries." f2000560 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Ravi Shahtri !!! :(( THat guy is a cliche factory and man simply just screams half the time. lousy commentator. Coney isn't too bad. Gavaskar can be ok but is probably india's answer to Ian Healy with his obvious hate for australia apparent in his words. I am no fan of australi but its embaressing sometimes with sunny on air.
abhinav Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Looks like a pretty decent line up Just one Aussie though!
sandeep Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 bumbles is great. nasser is OK. chapelli can go feck himself.

Ironic since he is bloody screaming his head off all other times warschttttt commie in hte planet.

SachDan Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Why so many Indians? http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/media/entertainment-/media/ESPN-Star-bags-ICC-telecast-rights/articleshow/761733.cms :isalute: Pretty good line up. btw what happened between ESS and Waz? First they removed him from the commentary team for Champions League T20 and now again no place for him in such a 'high profile' tournament!
SachDan Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Nasser :wall: Isn't he better than Atherton for a T20 match? couple of slots had to be given to SKY and I would have preferred this pair any time. Of course if Gower is ready to commentate, then replace Hussain with him!
Serani Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Nasser :wall: Because he cussed out the IPL last year?
Show_stopper Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 ^ Not just the IPL but everything about Indian cricket. Hell he even took a cheap shot @ Kumble who was commentating beside him. If only you were half as good as any of the Indian players Nasser!!
