wait afghans are aflliates? no way, they are supposed to be associates. I think they should play more against BD. 4 day matches and ODIs will do a lot good for both teams. Its better to have similar competition than to get beaten up by big guys.

Afghanistan bowling is good but when they bat it seems like 11 Afridi's are batting for them. They might win a match once in blue moon like Afridi plays an match turning innings once in while but fails most of time.

+1 But Mangal looked more of a relaxed and Test cricket sort of batsman.

They will produce two or three 150+ plus bowlers in few years. I am very impressed with their bowling. If they can learn how to handle short pitch deliveries, I am sure they will be very competitive in few years.

hamid hasan there fastest bowler has been clocked at 145k and bowls around the 140k mark. also body-building/martial arts is very popular in Afghanistan that's why they are pretty well built. K-H8VP_4c2s

We have some great relations with Afghanistan. We should be able to cut out a deal - Afghanistan handles the fast bowling department and India handles the batting/spin bowling department. In place, Afghanistan can play Ranji Trophy. Win-win situation.

They look like a bunch of honest triers but I doubt they will get very far with this current set of players. Sure, they will run a few teams close now and then but wont be able to put in consistent performances. The biggest problem is the fielding - weaker teams are heavily reliant on fielding to offset the dfference in experience. Afghan fielding and catching is way below par. But bowling is very good for a associate nation. The two Zadrans and Hamid Hassan would give a bowling attack with variety but a lack of a quality spinner will hurt them. The batting is horrible. Too many cowlashers in the team which good bowling attacks would gobble up. They should play plenty of cricket with Netherlands, Bangladesh, Ireland etc to gain some more experience before being elevated

They have a couple of international quality players like most associate nations and Bangladesh.....no need to get carried away....but :hatsoff: to their perseverance given the limited resources they have

Bowling has potential, batters have a long long way to go, play worse then club cricketers, no technique at all, but might be more talented and get better then BD and other minnows.

Afghanistan get Associate membership

Afghanistan have been granted the Associate membership of the ICC to become the 38th country to get that status. The decision was taken by the ICC at its ongoing annual conference, which ends on June 29 in London. The nomination request had been sent by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) last year based on the continuous progress made by Afghanistan, especially in its cricket development.
