Nova Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Calling Tdigi: A Serbian Movie ------> Music: 9/10 Cinematography: 9/10 Direction: 9/10 Acting: 9/10 Story: 9/10 Basically, its got a really polished look, something I did not expect given the subject matter. And those actors, they are not underground actors, some of them are mainstream actors. As for the movie itself, honestly, its worth a watch --- its not exploitation and gross out for the sake of exploitation and gross out, the film makers wanted it to be a metaphor for the horrors Serbia has gone through. Having said all that, I'd give it 9/10 --- Now, I am NOT a fan of this genre but this, well, this is an exception. I'm sure that'd come as a surprise to you, it has come a surprise to me. Oh damn...this is the movie you watched which we talked about!!! :yikes: I thought you were referring to Bandit Queen in the Diwali gifts thread. Looking at your review, I think I will now watch it myself. Yes this post of yours came as a surprise to me, considering that you are least bothered with this genre.
youngindia Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 i am back from the non english world. in these parts of the world, even the english movies are dubbed in the local language.have to search had for VOSE versions. the american- dry wall street- started well but seemed to have copped out by the final scene where gordon gekko for unfathomable reasons, given his background changes. the first one was certaily better town- well taken and grippin till end.affleck know how to entertain as a director.

This dude sums up pretty much everything I have to say: http://www.brutalashell.com/2010/03/film-review-serbian-film-srpski-film/ The film has got a really polished veneer feel to it --- By the looks && feels of it, this was not something that was made on a shoe string budget, rather, it looks very polished --- Now, how the heck did they find someone to finance this given the subject matter is a complete mystery to me; Btw, keep in mind, this is the DEBUT of both the director and the writer --- Now, to pull of something as technically proficient and polished of this, well, its quite an achievement. Having said that, being an exploitation film, there is no replay value --- This is something you watch once in your life just to say you had the stomach to watch it. Tdawg, was waiting in the other place (:creep:), you didn't turn up so posted the review here
coffee_rules Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Rakth Charitra - Irritating voiceover commentary all through the movie kills it. He doesn't give the viewers any chance to make up our minds about the direction/story. Stupid Spoon feeding. Other than that it's decent - like SarkarRaaj. Same bad background score, bad camera angles. Violence was always there in his movies, but this one has gore, with split heads, blood gushing, etc. Not for any kid of heart, not just faint ones. The 2nd part looks better.
