Sid Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I just think he should not be given any more matches in the tournament coz he can never score at intl level due to his limitations and also as a offspinner he is rubbish ,for me he should be directly swapped with rohit who is also an enigma but still is more competitive batsman and would not do much worse than yusuf with his offspin or you can even go with DK as a replacement. what you guys think?
King Tendulkar Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Y Pathan is not a bowler. If we want to pick him as a slogger, fair enough. But do not bowl him. He is simply not a bowler in any shape or form. Just bowls pies which float down with no turn, bouce or guile. And Dhoni for gods sake do not bowl him in key moments like penultimate over. Dhoni seens to have some bizzare faith in Y Pathan the bowler!
rkt.india Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 anyone can be thrashed in T20 and he eventually got the wicket of Bossman and morkal
The Outsider Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Haven't seen him bowl much lately, but he can be a reasonable option during the Power Play overs for a couple of overs. His flatter trajectory which skids on with the new ball is not easy to hit over the top of the in field without taking undue risks. He is pretty useless later in the innings though, but then so are all our bowlers.
Jersey #10 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Same could be said for Jogi Sharma who does not have pace neither variations. How in the world did dhoni chose him to bowl that final over in the world cup final? He won us the world cup in such a pressure situation. YP definitely lakes spin or variations. From what I can see, he frequently changes his pace, line and length. He also holds the seam several different ways to create the feel of uneven bounce. He does get us those much needed wickets so why not use him as a bowler? At the same time you are right, having him bowl that 19th over was scary to watch.
Ripper Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Oh, he is not a batsman too. He is a hitter, apparently R.Sharma would be much better choice than him.
Andy Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 YP as a batsman is bigger failure than Nohit. So only as a allrounder he makes into the team. And please drop Chawla, god knows why that guy was picked. Play a extra batsman or get Zaheer Back in. Am still not convinced by the 20-20 abilities of Jaddu as a batsman. Only as a bowler he makes in to the team for me.
hari504504 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Yeah..seems like we have two 'passengers' in the squad - one with 'talunt' and one with 'power'...looks like Nousef should make way for 'talunted'rohit...certainly can;t be any worse..
Clarke Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Dhoni was surely experimenting with the spinners against SA, the knowledge gained there was vital i.e. even SA can hammer them in slog overs. That said, YP is not bad with the ball in this format. I expect him to be more economical than the likes of Yuvi and maybe even Jadeja.
diegovegaz Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 yusuf doesn't belong to this level i would not prefer rohit either we are already playing 3 specialist spinners..backed up by 2 seamers yuvi or raina can bowl yusuf's bowling isn't required a wiser choice would be to have kaarthick as a finisher he's edgy against the new ball, but he can serve the team very well down the order
cowboysfan Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 2 all rounders is an overkill imo, they should not pick jadaja and yp in the team.why dont they give a chance to rohit since they picked him in the squad?
Jersey #10 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 just wait till YP brings the glory home for India. Go Barodian :aha:
rkt.india Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 1 gud innings and u all will be praising him again :cantstop:
anup.n1986 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Oh' date=' he is not a batsman too. He is a hitter, apparently R.Sharma would be much better choice than him.[/quote'] No! No Rohit! I want to teach that guy a lesson about what it takes to play for India. Let him spend a few more months on the bench while he sees Raina bask in all the glory while he carries his drinks and cleans his chappals. Evey tom dick and harry needs to know what it takes to wear the deep blue jersey
Ripper Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Rohit is technically much stronger than Y.Pathan. He is bit sluggish but then he can play mixture of strokes than just plainly hitting the ball. Y.Pathan is a gamble.

Even if I rate Yusuf as a bowler, he has done really well in all IPL seasons in bowling as well, I really do not think he is better than jadeja, who imo is now the best indian spinner at least in t20 even better than Harbhajan.
saneindian Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Time is fast running out for Yusuf. Needs to deliver with the bat in the next 1-2 games else he may get dropped again.

Y.Pathan is a gamble. I am not saying Rohit is not better than Yusuf - I feel for now Rohit needs to be taught a lesson. Replace Yusuf with Irfan - he will be consistent with the bat and he is more or less a spinner than a medium pacer:eyedance::eyedance:
