Its not purely a law based novel, but one that encompasses civil rights, a society divided by class, crime and unequal application of law on different segments of the society. I really like that book. Also, L.A Confidential is a movie in the same genre. Not a pure law movie, but one that gives you an overview of how the government anti-crime machinery worked in the 50s in the USA. Shivani has listed many interesting movies from the Law genre. Not much more that I can add to it.

Kramer vs Kramer (more drama, but you gotta see just for Dusty Hoffman and Meryl Streep) 2. 12 (Russian, similar to 12 Angry Men) 3. A Cry in the dark (another epic performance from Streep). 4. Rashomon (Kurosawa, a story told in four different perspectives) 5. JFK (based on the death of the US President) 6. North Country (true story, based on the historic sexual harassment case from the '80s) 7. The Life of David Gale (not exactly a court room drama, but TRUST ME, you will like it. Based on death penalties)
