Jadeja needs to contribute more with bat: Dhoni

Bhai, all I'm requesting to Dhoni is to not take Batting PP too late and leave it for jelly legs Bhikhari Jadeja. As i've said earlier, Dhoni can very well keep his 'keep' in the team but shouldn't screw us both ways by delaying the Batting PP and then leaving it for malnourished Bhikhari..That's double whammy..

Dhoni has one of the best set of hitters like Sehwag, UV at his disposal in this WC. Who knows whether he or Sehwag or UV will be captain or in the team in next WC or not. He should grab this chance with both the hands and ditch Jadeja. After this WC, Jadeja and many players like him will be at his 'disposal' and he can do whatever he 'wants'. He can even gift his bat to Jadeja. By that time Jadeja will be able learn to 'handle the bat'. Dhoni should focus on winning the WC and not on Jadeja...

All the irrelevant Jadeja bashing aside, when will the Indian team ever wake up to the fact that Jadeja is not a no.7 bat? Even assuming that he does have some abilities as a batsmen and it’s the pressure of the situation in the middle that gets to him, that by itself is no reason to play him at 7 because his batting traits simply do not fit the job description of a no.7 batsmen. To play in that position, you must have 1) A power game 2)Abilitiy to close out games 3)Abilitiy to clear in the infield during the final batting PP 4)Ability to bat with tail-enders and 5)Ability to handle high-pressure situations against top quality bowling attacks. The scary part is, none of what we have seen so far suggests that he has atleast one of the five listed characteristics. It isn’t simply enough to say ‘Oh, he can hold a bat, we think he can do well..’ At best, he’s a no.8 bat who gives Dhoni control in the bowling and an athletic body in the outfield. Its about time the Indian team reconciles with the truth and stop indulging in some wishful thinking. We simply CANNOT afford to go into the WC with this guy at 7. If that happens, our WC campaign, more importantly, Sachin’s ODI swansong, is doomed to fail.

His brain and body just freeze up' date= he has no idea of what shots to play under the situation, he starts haring up and down the pitch like a headless chicken, and the inevitable happens. sorry, dhoni and co, its your own ignorance of the real world that's the problem here. the problem here is "no time" for the world cup. its ridiculous to expect kohli or jadeja to be dominant in the international arena within 2 years after playing at u 19 level. they do not strike the ball well enough and that's a bare minumum.it will take some time to refine timing. they are not going to improve enuf in time for the world cup,. the selectors and dhoni are following a losing path here.

the problem with your posts is you lack enuf appreciation of how player evolves stage by stage. a player is different when he is 20, when he is 25, when he is 30. first understand that what you see today is not going to be the case even 2 years down the line. second cut off this nonsense about power game.its about timing. it usually takes years to achieve spectacular timing. the reason kohli or jadeja do not clear boundaries consistently now is they do not strike it well enough,. they need some more years.

He can bat --> Potential He is a decent bowler most times (def not the T20 WC) and even good some times Problem is you cant have him higher than No7 considering the ppl that you will be relegating to the lower order (Gambhir, Dhoni, UV, Raina, etc)... If you still want to play him but play him below No7, then you have Bhajji at No7... While Bhajji has played a few good knocks, he hardly inspires confidence as a stable No7 bat... So if you play Jaddu, no other option but to bat him at No7, which given his recent performances is proving too be disastrous. On the other hand the guy averages 33 with the bat and is bowling well in ODIs of late (averaging 44)... Interesting dilemma... Solution --> Play a batsman at No7 and that your bats can correct the bloodbath from your bowlers...

yep, a batting average of 38 or therebaouts suggests he can definitely bat. but his game isnt suited to batting at no.7. he can't slog. he puts too much pressure on the batsman at the other end by taking up too many dots. and WORST OF ALL. his running between the wickets. he is an AMATEUR at running between the wickets. i have lost count of the number of times, he would make a call and send the other guy back, or when he would cluelessly take off from the non striker's end. even in the last match vs pakistan he nearly ran out Suresh Raina. he is a weak link in this batting lineup and could easily cost india a victory with his shaky batting and stupid running between the wickets if the game gets close. he already has, actually. the most worrying thing is that dhoni says he is the best india has at this point in time. so i guess he isnt going anywhere.
