but i agree with one thing performance against england dont mean much but its not the wickets i saw the series i saw him dominating them..and he wask ind of go to man and with down fall of swann who do u think is best spinner in world ? atleast ajmal will keep it tight even abroad :wall:
I would like to see Ajmal perform outside of the subcontinent for him to be in contention for the best spinner. He hasn't done anything so far. Swann on the other hand has performed in Eng and away consistently for his team so deserves to be the best spinner. Let's talk when Ajmal does do something of note away.

hmm true ..he hasnt many matches away form these condition really and i like swann as bowler but south africa are gonna handle him w/o trouble this time around they normally dont make same mistake twice other then choking :cantstop: so right now there is no best spinner in the world ? :yikes: ok lets decide it this way whom would u rahter like our team facing swanny or ajmal ?

How many Asian spinners have great records outside the SC? They have had their moments (Chandra at the Oval, Pras in NZ, Bedi in Aus 77/78 etc) but their records aren't fanatastic.
hmm wht abt murali in england ? anyway same question ..would our team prefer to play ajmal or swann ?

No one except Murali. Offies have been useless most of the time outside SC. Didn't Ajmal win a test for Pakistan at Oval in 2010.

No I meant stats overall outside the SC rather than 1 country. In any case, Murali is an exception. He has a poor record only in Australia. His overall numbers are excellent. No other Asian spinner is close. India would prefer to play against Swann any day of the week imo.

All spinners need runs on the board with score board pressure on oppo to be truly effective. Asians dont score runs outside sc:giggle: But all jokes aside look at tahir. Now has big runs on the board and oppo under severe scoreboard pressure, he suddenly is electric.

It must be put in context here. Swann benefits a lot from the other bowlers in his side unlike Ajmal. The key difference between the two is Ajmal. If asked who would I have in my team, as much as I would like to deny it would be Ajmal for his doosra (and please the ICC has cleared his action and that's that!). However, currently Swann seems to be the best spinner. If Ajmal can continue his form, the spot's for taking IMO.

he is ver very underated his record even in australia was pretty good
Actually his absence was telling on both tours to England and Australia. This was the first time India toured there without him.

Lets have a separate thread for Kumble but what made Kumble "different" is that he didn't err in line & length. Even if he didn't get wickets he was economical due to his nagging line and length. Note how his most wicket taking performances would be giving 100+ runs in 30 odd overs with 5 or more wickets.

Oh please, Kumble was a home town hero for the vast majority of his career. He started bowling slower and got some variations in towards the end and credit to him for that but he wasn't a major force away against good teams. Aus 2003/04 was one of his better tours but he got belted by the likes of Ponting and ended up with Kaneria-esque figures of 5/150 etc. He bowled well on a couple of tours of SA - ran through the SA middle order in Joburg on the 92/93 tour and did alright in 2006/07. That's about it.

That was coz for the most part (90s and early 2000s) the batsmen never really supported him. You can't do much as a spinner when your batsmen struggle to put up even half decent scores. And when the batsmen finally started performing abroad in 2000s Kumble was a different bowler. It's the same as the last 2 away tours where we went 0-8 where even Kumble couldn't have done much. At the end of the day batsmen have to at least give bowlers something to defend. You can't expect a spinner to win you a game when your batsmen get bundled out for less than 200 in 60 overs on Day 1 of a test on a decent batting pitch

And people want to kill Bhajji cuz he's not taking wickets in England...
No people don't like Bhajji because he has sucked everywhere he has gone in the last few years in tests. He will only get wickets on rank turners now I think.
