Only a few months after Kirsten was hired he flatly said that there's needs to be a rotational policy for fast bowlers so that they don't get injured and so that you can give young bowlers a chance to mature and learn. But two years later there's still no rotational policy in place, not enough resources dedicated to supporting young fast bowlers. Instead the BCCI has done the opposite. Packed schedules of useless T20/ODI cricket where the same bowlers are overbowled, while we don't have dedicated bowling coaches in the NCA and the MRF is banned.

Rotational Policy does not make sense in test cricket. You have to play your top bowlers to stay on top. Did McGrath, Gillespie ever Rest? They even played against Bangladesh.

we gotta retire zaheer khan from ODIs and make him a test specialist. maybe call him up for world cup 2011, but that's it. or at the very least he should be picking and choosing his ODIs the same way tendulkar does. the lack of depth in the bowling department is scary.

Post IPL, why should Indian bowlers try hard to get included in the test team and why should the existing Test bowlers try hard to do well in Test matches..They would rather try to perform so badly that they would never get selected in any other test series. After that, it's fun in IPL..

Rotation policy for ODI/T20, not tests. For tests you need best seamers who can take wickets.

Agree, except that Irfan can be a pretty useful bowler in England, SA, Australia or even NZ. I'll also not like to throw Munaf completely to the garbage bin and would like him to find a way for himself in tests, though tough FC matches and A tours..

Bookmarking players as test/odi specialists is a good idea provided they agree to it, which is where the difficulty begins. Would Zak accept Laxman's endorsements & T20 offers over what he must have currently ? Its a free country after all.

All of this must not take away from the fact that it is exactly this sort of a wicket which brings so much disrepute to the game that we love. It is patently unfair and completely heartless to the bowlers. They dont have a chance. And the toss plays a huge role in the result. More often than not. About bounce and carry - allow me to point out that Ishant now does not even maintain a straight seam position. His seam has gone all wobbly - right out of the hand. And we have a bowling coach. In ICF parlance a phoren one too!:). Ishant needs to stop trying to bowl leg cutters. He is a seam bowler and one that needs to focus on that incoming delivery. That is what helped him make it to the squad. He is trying to become what he is not - a wicket taking bowler. He only needs to see Walsh. Wicket taking skills can come later. He cannot give up his natural strength. That incoming delivery which can cut a batsman into half. Without that he is not even a threat to a batsman on such a wicket. Harbhajan needs more from the wicket to be effective. And Ojha despite his suspect action (for me) extracts no advantage either from the air or off the pitch. Our fast bowlers cannot bowl more than 6 overs on the trot. What that meant was the 13th over was bowled by a spinner. On the first day of a Test match. Do we have spinners that good? Is that even a good strategy for us to follow consistently? I dont think so. But that discussion is a separate one.

It does not matter who bats us into boredom. Indians or Sri Lankans. The end result is the same. And so will be the corollary.

Can India suck any more? Club level bowling, no energy or thinking! "Best batting lineup" crumbling and is going to crumble again, just wait...... This team deserves to be ranked lower than Pak. Actually if India and Pak played each other on helpful wickets, India would lose. India may have a better batting lineup on paper, but the bowling is so far inferior than it is embarassing. Actually I feel with lack of talent coming, India is going to usher into 90s style cricket once SRT retires. With this kind of performance what is point of watching Indian cricket? And India sucks in the next year to year and half, SRT WILL retire sooner than later as the joy of playing will be sucked out of him.

Instead of forcing a clearly out of form and struggling Ishant into each and every test we should have used the Bangla series as a series to play Irfan or someone else.

our young bowlers will take a while to learn the discipline required to take wickets in the subcontinent. but if somebody like ishant gets conditions that wil help him, i'm sure he would be a real handful. same goes for all the other bowlers we have. they need help from the conditions because they dont have enough skill or guile to take wickets on their own. RP singh is a great example - he was bowling so well in australia and had a big role in our win at perth. but then the moment india returned to the subcontinent and he had to bowl on a dead chennai wicket, he struggled big time. ths is the story of most indian bowlers bar zaheer, who has tons of experience and knows which areas to bowl in. this is why i am looking forward to india's series in SA. our bowlers can redeem themselves in a big way down there.
