Andy Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 NEW DELHI: Former Australian captain Steve Waugh feels that the Indian cricket team doesn't deserve to be the No.1 Test side in the world. In the light of India's struggling performance in Sri Lanka, Waugh said: "India don't look like the No.1 side. The Indian team is struggling at the moment with their bowling and the team does not have the bowlers to take 20 wickets." The 45-year-old legendary batsman said India are only a tough team to beat at home, and it will be difficult for Australia to defeat them in the series, comprising two Tests and three one-day internationals, that starts on October 1 with the first Test in Mohali. "It will be close and a tough series. The team which plays better cricket will win," said Waugh. Waugh, who was in the capital for a promotional event, said the Indian team is suffering due to the absence of injured fast bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan. "India are a very good side. The batting line up is among the best in the world. But the bowling attack seems weak in the absence of senior bowler like Zaheer Khan," he said. Waugh was also disappointed with an inconsistent Harbhajan Singh. "I don't see a match winning spinner in the team. Harbhajan Singh is good but he is not consistent. He only seems to be doing well against Australia. India's bowling has weakened after the retirement of Kumble," Waugh said. Source
Andy Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 WTF? someone tell him India beaten England Fair and Square in England which they have failed in 2 attempts.
Sachinism Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 FFS do none of these idiots understand there is no undisputed no. 1 side, based on rankings we are number 1, suck it up f'ing losers
Lord Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 yeah its Aus,who lost to Pak without Younis n Moyo:hehe:
kabira Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 where does he say India does not deserve to be no. 1 he is saying what we all are saying, that we are not playing cricket worthy of No. 1 at the moment in this series.
Jadoo Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Agree with Kabira, he never mentions that we don't deserve to be no1, but says that currently we don't look like a no1 team coz our bowling is very weak which is probably what a lot of people feel. In fact I think he is being pretty kind about our bowling attack.
bharathh Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 It's hard to disagree with the man after seeing the way the bowlers are struggling in Lanka. Anyways, if they lose another game the #1 goes out the door... so that will end BCCI's reign at the top.
achilles Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 He talks sense. We have a weak bowling bench strength and the batting is quite "moody".
Serani Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Oh my gawd Steve Waugh is so totally trolling right now.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 where does he say that india doesn't deserve to be number 1? lame journalism.
veer Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 India's bowling is pathetic.. i hope no one disagrees on that..
Shane Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Sensationalist Title :banghead: Edited, agree with every word Waugh said.
Shane Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 WTF? someone tell him India beaten England Fair and Square in England which they have failed in 2 attempts. Arey angry young kid, read the Waugh's quotes carefully and then fault him.

King Tendulkar Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 India's bowling is pathetic.. i hope no one disagrees on that.. Difficult to evealuate this on the flattest tracks on planet earth that we are playing on.
Ram Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Cricket’s a team game, many pieces have to come together for a team to win. Its not necessary that we have to no.1 in every department of the game. If we have a world class attack as well, what else will they say? That we don’t have the best no.8 batsmen?
Rajiv Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Don't see anything wrong, we don't really look like No.1 Wall looks like Plaster of Paris and Bhajan might as well learn to be a snake charmer instead
