vvvslaxman Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 India's success over the last decade was due to swing bowlers apart from spinners. It is alright to have lanky "hit the deck" bowlers for surfaces that have a bit of bounce and pace. Otherwise for flat surfaces you need bowlers who are capable of swinging and reversing the ball. Even though our overall bowling standard is below par you can make it work with right selections. India has to go back to grooming bowlers who are in the mould of Zak. RP, Irfan, Praveen are some of the swing options we have. How can selectors not think through these things. What we have here is completely opposite set of bowlers. No pace, no swing, no seam .. these guys have literally beg for wickets on flat pitches like this.
asterix Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Advertising Mafia decides which players to be selected...
Lord Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 ^ u r expecting common sense from Srikkanth.thats too much to ask
vvvslaxman Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 wtf @ OP. You missed Sreesanth. Zak and Sree are regulars . Should have clubbed him with Zak. Point is India has to identify swing bowlers .
Andy Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Yes we are lacking Swing Bowlers. Initially i thought Tyagi is a swing bowler only to be proven wrong in Next few matches he played.
Sooda Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 The swing bowlers are injured/unfit/not in form thats the prob Its not like the ball would swing much in SL anyway would it?Apart from briefly when its new and when it is wet and Ishant did well then Sree and Zaheer can reverse it I guess, Sree at his best is very good but he is so inconsistent, that leaves Zaheer as the only guy who can stick to a line and length on a flat track when things arent going the bowlers way. And theyre both out with injury. Maybe Praveen can as he is accurate, but we dont know what he's like in test cricket. Certainly Pathan can't, hell get smashed here. RPS seems to has lost his mojo too.
Lord Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 other names i can think of are Unadkat,Kulkarni,R.Bose,Sidharth Trivedi
Andy Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 other names i can think of are Unadkat' date='Kulkarni,[b']R.Bose,Sidharth Trivedi Please! That guy is a Joke.
Lord Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Please! That guy is a Joke. ya.i was just listing swing bowlers in dom. cricket
Andy Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 ya.i was just listing swing bowlers in dom. cricket Actually he is good when there is a lot of Carry in the Wicket but in general his deliveries fail to reach the Keeper. So Edges wont carry.
King Tendulkar Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 OP has missed Nehra too :cantstop: Nehra has retired from tests with his average of 42 to concentate on bowling 4 overs a day and chasing the $$$$. Thankfully does not want to do the hard yards for his country in tests.
saneindian Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Earlier we hd those swing bowlers bowling at 84-85 mph(Irfan, RPS, Sreesanth, Balaji etc) , now a days the young swing bowlers (Kulkarni, Trivedi, etc) struggle to hit 79-80 mph. At that speed, unless you have got absolute control (like Asif) over your line and length, a bowler will do well only under very helpful bowling conditions.
Laaloo Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nehra has retired from tests with his average of 42 to concentate on bowling 4 overs a day and chasing the $$$$. Thankfully does not want to do the hard yards for his country in tests. Harbhajan would be wise to do the same :winky: P.S Nehra knows what's best for him. The guy came back after he was injured for 3 ****ing years. How the **** do you know he's chasing the money?
Dravid Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Dhaval Kulkarni can swing both ways. swinging it both ways at the speed of a spinner is useless :hahaha:
