Why would you think that? Just in his last series he made a brilliant century against Steyn and Morkel to help set up the victory at Kolkata (after Sehwag and Sachin had erased the SA lead). In fact, his form has been unceasingly consistent for quite some time bar the 2008 home series against England.

an absolutely chanceless innings. he was a bit more positive then tendulkar and didnt play the deliveries pitching on leg stump with the kind of caution that tendulkar did. made run scoring look so easy. his running between the wickets is classic. the guy seems like an arthritic army vet. that was shot. twice. in the same leg. :D i am glad his average is starting to get closer and closer to that 50 mark, a guy of his class deserves that 50+ average. australia are next, look out for more big runs from the aussie killer.

I know it's slicing and dicing, but it makes sense in Laxman's case because he chose to stay out of the team till he could play in the middle order, but in the middle order he has been averaging 50+ for a long time. A tremendous achievement given the fact that he batted at number 6 for a long while and has batted behind stalwarts like Tendulkar, Dravid, and Sehwag for most of his career which limits his chances for really big scores.

i am aware of that, but future generations judge the guy on his overall career average. its kind of like how people dont remember mohinder as an all time great because his average is in low 40s, but he is easily one of the greatest of all time if u look at his battting average against the windies and IN their own backyard against their best bowlers. he was outrageously good, would make my all time indian eleven any day.
