girishk14 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 My choices: Cricketer of the year: Tendulkar - 2nd most Test Runs, most Test Centuries, averaging 81 in Tests, averaging 65 ODI, First guy to get 200 in ODI, 20 years in the game. Test player of the year: Sehwag - Most runs, most centuries, highest average, highest strike rate, most runs in one day, highest score in one innings. ODI Player of the Year: Shane Watson - 2nd most runs, most wickets, most runs in a partnership. Emerging player of the year: Mo Amir - Most wickets of anyone on the list. Consistently able to take top order wickets from top teams - Australia and England. Huge maturity at such a young age. Twenty20 international performance of the year: Michael Hussey 60*v Pakistan. It was outstanding and heartbreaking. Umpire of the Year - URDS. perfect but angelo mathews deserves the emerging player award more.
goose Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 ECB Complaint Leads To Swann Inclusion http://www.cricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/current/story/473292.html Can you imagine the media response, and in particular from the English broadsheets, had the BCCI complained and got an Indian player included? What a disgrace! Who's running the ICC?
Serani Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Im sure if India had the leading wicket taker in world cricket in the period and he didnt get included they would complain too.
Sachinism Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 http://www.cricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/current/story/473292.html Can you imagine the media response, and in particular from the English broadsheets, had the BCCI complained and got an Indian player included? What a disgrace! Who's running the ICC? Absolutely true, but what dumb bunch of (unts ICC are. How can Swann not have been included?
EnterTheVoid Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Im sure if India had the leading wicket taker in world cricket in the period and he didnt get included they would complain too. Dude, seriously, how far is your head rammed up your @rse ?
Gunner_Mania Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I think it was a disgrace in the first place that the ICC didnt include him the list when the announced the nominations.
cowboysfan Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 cricketer of the year:sachin(he should be a slam dunk but icc voters are weird) test player of the year-shane watson(for saving the aussies you know what)
Serani Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Dude' date=' seriously, how far is your head rammed up your @rse ?[/quote'] What?
Jadoo Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I think it was only right what Clarke did in the end, Swann definately meritted his place, and if Clarke isn't going to speak up for his man than who is. Anyway, how retarded are the panel for not having him selected in the first place, ICC is a complete joke.

Lord Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Im sure if India had the leading wicket taker in world cricket in the period and he didnt get included they would complain too. but that would be a BCCI armtwisting of ICC,no?
achilles Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Here's my list- Cricketer of the Year Hashim Amla (SA)/ MS Dhoni (Ind) Test Player of the Year Hashim Amla (SA) ... this is a no-brainer ODI Player of the Year Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Ind) Emerging Player of the Year Mohammad Amir (Pak) Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year Mohammad Shahzad (Afg) Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Michael Hussey (Aus) - 60 not out (24b, 3x4, 5x6) v Pakistan, St Lucia, 14 May 2010 Women's Cricketer of the Year (Anyone of the Pom women) Umpire of the Year Rudi Koertzen
achilles Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 So a few comments on Sky Sports and they add someone else? PATHETIC! PATHETICALLY PATHETIC and just....PATHETIC! :finger::finger::finger: now this shut mouth of those people who say that icc is controled by india. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/current/story/473292.html Can you imagine the media response, and in particular from the English broadsheets, had the BCCI complained and got an Indian player included? What a disgrace! Who's running the ICC? Don't be ridiculous now. Ofcourse its fine if England does it coz England is "England" you know, the white doorknobs of cricket, the only guardians of the game who love to keep blaming everything on India. Swann should've been on the list but that does not mean the ECB should take a leak in the ICC. Did BCCI do the same in 2007 where only 2 Indians were nominated for the ICC Awards, which too were held in India? No. I really hope our media picks on this and pwns the shameless hypocritical morons, that are the ECB.

Which deserving Indian was left out in 2005 from the ICC nomination? or for that matter I wonder what your reaction would have been had Sachin been left out of the nominations this year?
achilles Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Which deserving Indian was left out in 2005 from the ICC nomination? or for that matter I wonder what your reaction would have been had Sachin been left out of the nominations this year? I stand corrected. I guess it was 2007. Only MS Dhoni and Jhulan Goswami were nominated for the ICC Awards and a controversy was generated with Sunil Gavaskar leading the criticism about why players from England and Australia had been nominated despite indifferent form and the nerve of ignoring better-performing Indians at an ICC Awards function held in India. Very few Indian players attended the programme. Also, comparing Swann as being the Sachin of England is a flawed concept. Sorry but its not a bearable joke if England thinks of him that highly. 20 years of high-quality cricket > 20 months of good form.
Gunner_Mania Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Also, comparing Swann as being the Sachin of England is a flawed concept. Sorry but its not a bearable joke if England thinks of him that highly. 20 years of high-quality cricket > 20 months of good form. Its not lifetime achievement award. He was good in the last 12 months. He deserved to be there in the first place.
saneindian Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Its not lifetime achievement award. He was good in the last 12 months. He deserved to be there in the first place. There was a certain gentleman named Duncan FLetcher in the selection panel for thw awards. Given the love he has had for Swann over the years, I would not be surprised if he was the one who blocked Swann's nomination.
