ali0786 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Good post. As Dhondy said in another thread the manner in which the sentiment across the border has changed from 'Let's hang them all' to 'It's an Indian conspiracy' going through a whole array of emotions in between really shows the true mettle. I spent some time browsing PP last night and was amazed to see the manner in which these cheats are being defended and all kinds of legal loopholes being brought forth' date=' so they can somehow represent Pakistan in cricket. What kind of moral bankruptcy must a nation have to actually want cheats to represent your country. And in this particular case it's not even that the cheats cheated some other country or team. They betrayed the very trust of their own countrymen who are vociferously supporting them now.[/quote'] I have to 100% agree with your post regarding PP. It's really sad to see how people are defending these players who have cheated their own country. Everyone is singing "innocent till proven guilty" crap because of the reports that Majeed was let off and their may not be enough evidence. It is clear that these guys cheated. There are probably about 20% people on PP that want these players banned....which is really sad.

Pak_Forever Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Few people do bad and a whole essay comes out on Pakistan. How typical :winky: Every nation got their problems and this "denial mode" you are referring too is absurd. I will get fiery posts if I talked about the "denial mode" of our parosis.

You have everyr right to just like everyone else. I would say that Pak. establishment and cricket needs to stop this and take some responsibility for its actions. The country is currently earning GDP @ 4% and there is very likely chance with floods of it going to 1% this year. Fiscal deficit is enormous even without the aid. PPP is a weak corrupt govt. A convicted criminal is leader of Pak. So how do you expect the players or PCB to be any different ? Not the Pak. envoy is claiming after cash was found at player's room, that they were not aware that Majeed was a bookie. It is becoming a borderline failed state.

It says a lot about the general mentality of average pakistanis. WHY CAN"T YOU GUYS HAVE A BIT OF SELF RESPECT AND STOP DEFENDING THESE CLOWNS!

Utalk Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I agree as a nation we need to come out of this denial mode. Every nation has it's problems and facing your problems head on and dealing with them is the best way forward. Re this fixing issue PCB needs to wake up and do a thorough investigation. Ban the culprits for life and send a strong message to younger players. We let our 90s stars off and are reaping the rewards now. For once do the right thing PCB or cricket will die in Pakistan.

I think what he means is that few ppl in the country, which is true..like India is corrupted ( u know what I mean ), and it would make anyone uncomfortable when their heroes have done such a thing

Investigation and banning players is just immediate solution to the problem. I guess if trio are jailed then it would act as strong deterrent. However PCB would have to change it's working to avoid anything like this in future. Although people at the top themselves might not be clean, but board has to take corrective measures. Even if those measures are implemented partially, it would help Pakistan cricket. This might include being strict about what players do, educating them and increase in their salaries. If the risk factor involved in such cases is increased then players won't try it easily. It will help Pakistan only. Look at the current team. Even though it is not most brilliant/talented/attractive team, they are playing good cricket. Team looks much more stable now and its not just a coincidence that performance has improved.
Cricket_Guru Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 i hope they get akmal and riaz in dock too
Daksh Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 As someone said, not doing anything concrete about involvement of their stars like Wasim, Inzi, Anwar, Mushy et al in match fixing in '90s was what probably is hitting Pak back. A SC judge, no less accused them of the most henious crime one could commit if he/she is a sportsperson and what did they do? Just fine the above and leave nobodies like Malik and Ata- Ur Rehman to dry.
Daksh Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 As compared to them, India did very well in getting rid of its superstars like Jadeja and Azhar. And we haven't heard of even one of Indian cricketers' involvement in this and its been 11 years since that Hansie Cronje story was revealed by Delhi Police. I see lot of other boards brushed this under the carpet with ECB (Stewart), SLC (De Silva), CA (Warne, Waugh), WICB (Lara) et al did absolutely nothing to at least go to the root of the problem. Just like all the above boards, then UCBSA was living in denial mode but when they were shown the hard core evidence of Cronje's complicity in this, they had no other option. Similarly, other boards too would've done well to do a thorough check on the integrity of the accused players. Sadly, things won't probably have come to such a pass. And our beloved game of cricket won't have been tarnished like its been done today in an obscure London court room.
achilles Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 True. In Pakistan, you cannot rise the ranks until you point fingers at India. I can't think of 1 politician who has stated that, "enough of this denial business and pointing fingers". This mentality has pulled them down and continues to.
achilles Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Top post rett :top: True, I've mentioned this before, post 1947..had the pakis worked towards their own progress instead of indulging in trying to destabilize India...they wouldn't have been in dumps at present Yes. Isn't it amazing that they were marginally better than us before 1990 and are lightyears behind us in 2011.
Utalk Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 You sure mate? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
