Guilty until proven innocent

Guilty until proven innocent Over the years, we have seen our friends across the border master the art of denial. The very first denial was in the belief that people of different religion can live together. And thus Pakistan was born. They didn’t have to wait long to learn how good they were in the art of denial as Nehru went to UN when Pakistan denied that Kashmir was an integral part of India. The seeds that you could be successful through denial got planted in the nation. Pakistan had learned a useful trick. As time went by, new tricks were added like the victim card, uneducated people card, ignorance card, conspiracy card and if nothing worked then “everyone does it” card. The country learned a bag of tricks on how it could get away despite being on the wrong side. So when the farmers in the north of Pakistan are growing poppy, they are doing it because they don’t know for what purpose poppy will be used for, they are poor and have to support their family assuming that only farming poppy is the way out and they are tricked by drug traffickers in to farming the poppy. How helpless, ignorant, uneducated the poor farmer growing poppy is. When nothing works, you get the “everyone does it” card. So when Afridi, who unlike some of the other Pakistani cricketers cheats to win rather than cheats to lose, bits a ball to temper it, it is seen as the poor innocent guy not knowing how to do it and getting caught in the process when everyone does it without getting caught. To show how unfairly Afridi was treated, some even linked Tendulkar in to this (even by making fake videos). Saying that Tendulkar did it too, when Tendulkar merely did what the umpire should have done but without asking for umpire’s permission! But in the eyes of our good neighbours, those two acts were similar as in their opinion they count as ball tempering. With the match-fixing scandal engulfing and tainting Pakistani cricket and two of its main players facing life bans, another card was pulled out of the bag of tricks, “the allegation card.” Here the burden of proof rests with others and the players are “innocent until proven guilty”. The crime has to be proved in the court of law. And on top of this card, some of the other regular cards are still played. By suspending the three accused, ICC showed that world has had enough of these blatant cheap tricks. If ICC had cracked under the pressure of these tricks and propaganda, then it would have justified to our good friends that their faith in their bag of tricks and blatant behaviour is right. The world can be made a fool by playing those tricks. No Pakistan, the world is not a fool. But it is fair (or at least tries to be whenever possible), and despite knowing about those tricks, it always gave you a chance. A chance given to you in the hope that situation would improve in the god-forsaken country. But you mistook this as a victory of your ticks and a weakness of others who hoped for a better Pakistan. By continuing to do what you have been doing, you have placed yourself in a position where you are: "Guilty until proven innocent”. Yes, as usual, you may cry foul at this, play some more cards but deep down you know you have only yourself to blame for the mess you are in. As they say, honesty is the best policy but in Pakistan denial is the best policy. - rett -

Good post. As Dhondy said in another thread the manner in which the sentiment across the border has changed from 'Let's hang them all' to 'It's an Indian conspiracy' going through a whole array of emotions in between really shows the true mettle. I spent some time browsing PP last night and was amazed to see the manner in which these cheats are being defended and all kinds of legal loopholes being brought forth, so they can somehow represent Pakistan in cricket. What kind of moral bankruptcy must a nation have to actually want cheats to represent your country. And in this particular case it's not even that the cheats cheated some other country or team. They betrayed the very trust of their own countrymen who are vociferously supporting them now.

Top post rett. Very good post. Unfortunately, when people do such things intentionally, it becomes very difficult to make them see sense. If it was limited to a few indisciplined players or one corrupt organization, it could have been solved. But when it's deep rooted in the fans and the common men, it becomes very difficult.

I can say a lot here (and that will be in flowery words) , but guess what -- people will complain about anti-paki tirade here. I mentioned this on the very 1st day -- there always has been a tacit approval of the sinful and wrong doings of everthing in PakiLand -- by the imbeciles who reside there and/or reside elsewhere but do belong to that sh!t hole. Which is exactly why the sh!t hole they have been living in is getting deeper and deeper and they are moving away from reality. But where are the guys who were "feeling sorry" for these imbeciles ? You call these people fans? One hopeless nation ! -- Can some body please keep a count of this statement :-)

Brilliant post ! :hatsoff: You know the sad thing is, having spoken to a lot of my Pakistani friends, it appears that in order to get to the Top in the Pakistani establishment, this ability to deny and having a cheap bag of tricks is essential.. And many of them know it, but are powerless to do anything about it. Some of them go into denial mode themselves. It's not unlike some of our politicians, who have a bag of tricks themselves, but they know when to stop, as the punishments are becoming harsher.

Nice post, summed up the typical Paki mentality pretty well. Pakistan is a like a country’s version of a lone-psychopath/sociopath who builds his own world of alternate reality and a system of skewed moral where anything, even bloody massacres is justified. Its very hard to have any sort of sympathy for these guys. You try to be fair and not let the past cloud your judgment towards them, but they make it almost impossible to have even a semblance of solidarity for their struggles.

varun, a lot of it is true for India as well. In places like UP and Bihar it is impossible to hold a prominent political post unless you are not only corrupt, but also have a criminal nexus to defend your position. However, what I feel differentiates India from Pakistan is that the people at the very top, the ones representing the country at an international forum are by and large educated and logical. While the likes of Laalu, Mulayam, and Mayawati can make their way up to state level and even cabinet posts with little international exposure, but the representation at the very top is usually in the hands of people like Manmohan, Vajpayee, or even Narsimha Rao, who at the very least will not make a fool of themselves internationally. Same thing is true for international diplomatic relations. I was flabbergasted to listen to the Pakistani representation in as diplomatic sensitive country as UK. Indian foreign service would also have morons like this but I can't imagine them getting such crucial diplomatic postings. They'll usually be sent off to places like Syria and Jordan. I still can't get over that High Commissioner's press conference and interview I saw. :hysterical:

I found it quite amazing as well the way they were looking for loopholes so the guilty could walk free and become heroes of Pakistan again. I guess they'll never learn.

The thing i notice, and perhaps it's because Pakistan is a fledgling nation, is that Pakistanis crave respect and honor and will gratefully accept it from any source or person. The country as a whole is insecure, in more ways than one. The t-shirts sporting the logo 'Proud to be a Pakistani' betray a certain crisis in identity. Pakistan is like the abused child borne to quarrelling parents. The poor kids deserves sympathy but will ultimately grow up to abuse someone else. Ok I'm getting carried away!

Professor Ji, the present Pak HC is one of the trusted aids of President Zardari. He himself has been caught by Geo TV, taking custody of important documents related to Zardari's assets from Swiss banks and bringing them back to his mansion in England. He actually has old cases of corruption against him in Pakistan and has ran away to UK and settles here. He is not even from the Pak Foriegn Services. Zardari has deputed him to take care of 'European Businesses of Zardari'. As somebody in one passionate forum said (and which had me in splits), "The HC is a bigger Zamadar (Janitor) than Ijaz Butt. So for cleanup or brushing everything under the carpet, there was no better Zamadar than the HC as he has past experience too."...:hysterical: CWdofNkd04c I really hope the NOTW publish this video to show how the Pak HC is running like a Rat hiding from the camera..Saala baat karta hain..

It rather sums up their mentality - to protect and defend their own cheating thugs try to smear even the most respected and honest men from India especially but also other countries.

It's really funny to see them go from pelting the donkey, to loving the donkey and now trying to sleep with it

Looking at the antics of the High Commissioner reinforced what I have observed over many years. Even third generation immigrants, certainly Pakistanis, but even Indians (who get away because they tend to stay away from the media glare, but if you needed an example, look at Dr Pachauri from the IPCC) haven't figured out the art of self-deprecation. It's an unique British trait- unless you are a politician, you never praise yourself, never talk up your virtuosity, your prowess, your experience, certainly not your country, and do the exact reverse for your adversaries. Further, you deflect praise by pointing out your own faults in good times, and express remorse when you are in a hole. You might just get away with murder in this country if you have figured that out. Surprising how few do- not just our macho neighbours- take a look at the bowl of soup Pietersen has landed himself in if you needed confirmation.

On a talk show, anchor brought Sachin's ball tampering in a discussion to justify that the way Indian Board and Indians in general stood behind SRT, they should suppport their players.... Unbelievable ....I dont know any bad words for these morons but honestly I do not have any sympathy for even Ameer as well anymore. Request : Move all these discussions on pak morons in a Jokes section and show that ICF strictly means Cricket.

It is ridiculous, laughable etc. but when it is Pakistanis we are dealing with there is not much point using common sense, logic or fairness is there?
