Rajiv Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Same as Soya Sauce class, awkward stance, only height - very pushy run up and easily gone for 4 Where did this get this rangroote, he looks like a visitor
thongale Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Nuwan Zoysa was better than most of the ODI seamers that India manage to produce during that time. Zoysa got 108 wickets in 93 innings at 29.75 with ER of 4.52 and SR of 39.4 Compare that to Your best current seamer, Zaheer Khan, 172 innings, 241 wickets at 29.80, SR - 36.3 and ER of 4.92, almost identical record other than for the number of matches.
ravishingravi Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Chk this out. If this does not inspire fear I don't know what will [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJwd240lLHI]YouTube - The 6'10 giant left armer Mohammad Irfan bowling against Karachi Whites[/ame]
thongale Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 He's not 6' 10", 7'1" . The tallest FC player, and now tallest ODI player as well.
thongale Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 And instilling fear factor, your own Gavaskar didn't give a **** about 3 6'6"+ bowlers were bowling at him. He went on his merry ways.
Shane Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 But he is not phast, medium phast to say the least, he desperately lacks control. Looks like a rookie baaller.
riwi999 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Batsmen are heavily protected nowadays, from head to toe. I think with minimal protection during the 1970s, with Jeff Thomson firing in to bowl to you with the new ball, now THAT requires courage!!! Much more than required to face up to the likes of Md Irfan.
Sachinism Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 He's got decent pace, good height, on a seamer friendly wicket he can be a handful

We know ZAK is Sh!t in ODI's. But Zoysa is not Test Class.

ina_jawaan Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 hard to tell because there is no camera angle behind the bowler and the callibre of the batsmen facing him is unknown. seems to have a chest on action which makes it unlikely he will swing the ball in to the right hander, the left armer's most potent weapon. tallest bowler i have seen is joel garner i think - he was about 6ft 6 in but the thing about him was he was deadly accurate at good pace and could bowl yorkers at will which made him almost unplayable at times in one dayers. tony greig was 6 ft 7 1/2 but he was only medium pace. still, if waqar younis rates this guy he must have something - looking forward to it.
thongale Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 We know ZAK is Sh!t in ODI's. But Zoysa is not Test Class.Agreed that Zoysa is not test class, or even better, Zoysa was not fit enough to be a test bowler. If Zaheer is regarded as a crap bowler by you, then who are the ODI bowlers India have? I cannot recall any ODI seamer better than Zaheer ATM playing for India. And BTW, we were discussing of ODIs, because Md. Irfan is not test plater ATM.
Cricketics Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Reminded me of Abey Kuruvila. Though Kuruvila used to run fast. This guy comes to bowl "dheela dhaala"
riwi999 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I don't agree that Zak is sh*t in ODIs. He is miles ahead of the Zoysas of this world. And I don't really care what the stats say. Why don't we just ask the batsmen who have played Zoysa and Zak? Who do they rate higher?

But there are few who are as good as many on conditions which Favour Seam Bowling.
ina_jawaan Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 just caught a glimpse of him bowling in the second odi - must say looks pretty decent - lively pace mid eighties.

Why don't we just ask the batsmen who have played Zoysa and Zak? Who do they rate higher?I know, that is the most neutral comment that I've ever seen. And BTW, Aussies rate Zoysa than a certain Zaheer, because he has bowled very well to Gilchrist in particular.
riwi999 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I know' date=' that is the most neutral comment that I've ever seen. And BTW, Aussies rate Zoysa than a certain Zaheer, because he has bowled very well to Gilchrist in particular.[/quote'] Really? I did say earlier that I do not care too much about what the stats say but this comment of yours made me go through the stats. In great detail. I checked stats of both Zaheer and Zoysa against Australia. In Tests and in ODIs. And also specifically against Gilchrist. Every single stat points to Zaheer doing better against Australia than Zoysa. So please check for yourself whether Aussies rate Zoysa rather than a "certain" Zaheer. It is even ridiculous that we are comparing Zaheer with somebody like Zoysa. I can understand comparing Zaheer with Vaas. Comparing Zaheer with Zoysa is like comparing Tendulkar with Kandamby.
ZodiaC Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Zaheer vs Zoysa? Can someone tell me what the faaaaack is going on here?
