Hilfy is good only in swinging conditions of UK, I rather prefer Hazel who is more of a hit the deck bowler. But I don't think the Oz selectors wud take that route.

Yeah, for some reason I made the assumption that he'll automatically playing (dont ask me why). Johnson reverses it a bit and can cut the ball away from right handers at 140 kmph. Hilfenhaus can be used to do a Kasprowicz like role possibly with the keeper standing up after the ball is 10-15 overs old. They actually have a decent bowling attack if used properly.

Id like to see a keeper that can stand up to an 85-90 mph bowler. Aint gonna happen. Especially considering Hilfenhaus main weapon is outswing which leads to catches behind the wicket.

Hazelwood is a fantastic prospect and was very impressive in the U-19 WC. Though I don't believe he'll get his share of playing time given that Mitch, Bolly and Hilfy are fit and firing for the aussies. Aussie batting is fragile but it's not like we have bowlers who can knock out batsman at their (bowlers') will. This series will be a contest between our batting stalwarts vs their bowling firepower. 2 match series never makes sense even if the other participant is Bangladesh (in their case 1 test is too many :giggle:), but I'll take this over those lifeless 7 freaking ODIs which would bore me to death.

He's hardly a 85-90 mph bowler. He only gets it upto the mid 80s in english conditions. And no he isnt going to go at anything more than 80 mph in Indian conditions. And after 10-15 overs the ball hardly swings in India and he is going to have to bowl straight with the occasional offcutter with a reverse swinging ball. You havent seen much cricket in India have you?

He bowled over 90 regularly in the ashes. And he will probably still get the ball to swing a bit, the keeper wont be standing up to him.

Can't see him lasting too long against Harbhajan, much like Prince and Duminy.

This test series cannot begin soon enough.. Even though 2-0 is within the bounds of our reach, a 1-0 result looks more probable. If we win against them twice in two tries, that will send a clear message to the Ian Chappells and Sanjay Manjrekar’s of the world as to who’s the undisputed no.1 For the Aussies, much like the last time, spin will be their biggest liabilty. At least this time, they’re coming in with a rather more established (albeit mediocre) spinner like Hauritz. In 2008, their first choice spinning option for a while was Cameron White. :cantstop:. For our part, much will depend on whether our middle order batsmen can get up and running in the early part of the series. Dravid is probably not playing too much competitive cricket and it is taking him for a while to warm-up and get into gear. Hopefully, our bowlers can make the ball reverse and talk in all different indian languages like last time. But to be honest, the Ishant of 2010 isnt the same as the Ishant of 2008. He was it menacing best back then.. (the dismissal bowling Pwnting through bat and pad, defeating his forward defence..)

1-0 is my prediction! We always manage to eff up the first test no matter what, and i am hoping that we draw the Bangalore test (which has been an unlucky ground for us) like last time when we played Aussies there and win the Mohali test.
