Anything less than 3-0 is a failure IMO. NZ side used to be a formidable ODI side, but thats it, their test side sucks balls. Looking forward to goddy & chintu play :icflove: And time for dhoni to regain some form before the big series

Last time New Zealand toured India was back in 2003. Long time since then. They played two tests and drew both of them. But i must mention we were followed on in the 2nd test and we lost 3 wickets for 15-20 runs in the 2nd Innings, Later Laxy saved the day for us. So i cant see a cake walk here.

We should remember some of our players like Sehwag and Laxy are pumped up while playing Australia, and they get bored playing lower ranked teams, so there is the risk of getting complacent.

Stop the negativity :headshake:. I seriously expect India to whitewash Kiwis because they're batting and bowling both are fragile and we need to pounce on this opportunity. We missed beating NZ 2-0 in NZ, so we gotta win "extra" match in this series to make it 3-0 (2-0 is what everyone's expecting, hence the 'extra' win) :--D

blue bri, What I've said abt Sehwag and Laxy has been evident in the past. I hope they take this series seriously, but sometimes they do get bored it appears! LOL! I dont blame them a lot - NZ is a boring team. However, I too would love to see a fully dominant performance from the Ind team :isalute:

Boredom comes into play only in case of Viru,not with Laxman,but cant complain when you see Viru murderiing all other superior attacks,things become far too easy for him whenever he up against so called ordinary attacks,which ultimately makes him throw his wicket away

"You can talk about structures as much as you want but the reality is it's about the bat and ball. Watching it, making good decisions and getting the hell stuck into the opposition and we just haven't done that consistently," he added. Greatbatch said some players in the team are not fit for international cricket. "I'll be honest again I think some (players) aren't good enough, I think some think they're better than they are and the third thing I think is the mind." "We've got to get our mind right and sometimes that requires patience. Sometimes it requires being aggressive. What it requires is actually sorting out the cricket smarts and weighing up the situation that you're playing in and we've got some work to do in all those areas." The coach was, however, lavish in his praise for explosive batsman Ross Taylor. "I think Ross Taylor has only played 25 Tests, that's not a lot, some of these World class players have played 150," Greatbatch said. "I think he's on the right track. I think when his career's come to an end he will have played close to 100 Tests for New Zealand and probably be one of our best."

Someone should let Greatbatch know that India has the habit of going down or up to the level of playing opposition quiet often and will make any series an interesting, "both sides with a chance" contest

He's absolutely right. The Kiwis are a pretty average side (even Pakistan beat them at home earlier this year..), but its not a good idea for the coach to come out publicly with such scathing criticism. For starters, it leaves a lot of people red-faced and no.2, if your own coach doesnt think you're good enough, then who will?

Hi all, This is going to be my First Post on ICF :yay: I think it is true that in the past we tend to relax against lower oppositions especially someone like NZ. But I am hopeful this time - This team is starting to become ruthless and started to win more. 2 years back they would have been happy to win series 1-0 but now we are also making clean sweeps. Another Plus is that Sachin is in great form and no mood to let go against anyone. NZ it can be said have suffered a big jolt and it may be good for them as they may give it all that they have. They are always a bunch that always perform above their capability. One concern is the selection of venues- I hope they provide competitive games not dull draws.
