Legislative - 1/2 and 1/2 Executive - Liberal Judicial - Conservatives by 5-4 Oh please, we all know the Judiciary don't make policies, don't pass bills, don't declare war or don't control the economy. In all seriousness, I dont mind if Obama gets re-elected in 2012 if Repubs control the house and senate... Or vice-versa...

Now there are fears Rand Paul, high as he is on tea, could filibuster the raising of national debt ceiling, leading to US govt. defaulting on loans. :hysterical: They are pussies. That is what they are. They have failed to understand the intelligence of American people which actually does not exist. One, they did not do enough for me, even on health care. Two, to me it is no longer a centre left party. As bill maher said, Dems. have shifted to the right wing and the Rep. have shifted to the mental hospital. Three, they did not brag enough about their "achievements" and could not reduce the message for the people to a catchy one liner i.e. "they hate us for our freedom" or "i am a war time president" or "They are socialists/communist who are going to raise your taxes and kill your babies". With the American people this is what works. Just radicalize the discussion to a point that argument becomes almost impossible. Rep. know the country and they know the stupidity of the avg. joe. If you go and talk about some legislative victory, this is what you end up getting. Fact is, who runs the country? The parties or IBM, AT & T, Goldmann etc. Hence, I say nothing much will change irrespective of who is in power if it goes against their interest. Btw big party and pay rise for the Fox crew tonight by Murdoch. And do they deserve it.

The ruling party loses seats in the BEST of times, but given the current scenario (near 10% unemployment, hugely unpopular pieces of legislations like the Bank and Auto bailouts, the emergence of the tea-party that helped mobilize the Republican base), it was only inevitable that the GoP was going to pick up some additional seats, especially those that are traditionally conservative, but voted Democratic in the 2008 elections. The GoP taking back the house is no surprise, what would have been earth-shattering is if they had won over the Senate as well. Thank Heavens that didn’t come to pass. I am sure Obama knew that moment he took office in Jan 21st, 2008 that it is going to be a huge uphill fight come 2010, especially given the state of the economy. Knowing that they would suffer reversals anyway, they chose to go ahead with some hugely important pieces of legislations like Wall street reform, the stimulus and health care reform. Plus, I don’t believe the Dems were full pelt with their efforts in these mid-terms anyway. But, now that the GoP is controlling the Cong, I cannot wait to see them implementing their magic math.. It is going to fun to see them introduce bills that somehow not only extend 4 trillion dollars worth of tax cuts, but also magically cut the deficit. They rode in on a wave ‘anti-govt, anti-spending’ agenda. Now that they ARE the govt., it is going to be fascinating to see how they make the Harry Potter style polices come to life. :hysterical:
