Radiation (can be harmful) machine or pat-down :hmmm: Drive instead of fly.
I have been flying quiet a lot in the last month and although never been subjected to the porno xray machine, pat downs has become downright invasive. The worst was in Trivandrum (on a domestic flight in which they didnt even check my parents ID) and shanghai (although by a pretty girl). Hongkong while entering the airport wasn't invasive (only metal detectors) but while transferring to the departure from arrival i was chosen for special treatment . Nothing like US, but they asked the only brown guy in the queue to remove the belt.

What I find most absurd about this whole thingy is that apparently, if you refuse to either subject yourself to the pat down or go through the x-ray machine, you just cannot walk away from the airport. Apparently, it is a federal offence amounting to either $10,000 in fines (or) jail imprisonment! WTF! And on the whole system of invasive security, I am torn as to whose side to take. I can understand the security angle to the whole thing. The terrorists are trying more and more innovative ideas to carry explosive material into air-plans. So the usual metal-detector thingy isn’t good enough. On the other hand, this system is so rife with possibilities of abuse. One of the guarantees that was given when the x-ray screening was implemented, the images could not be stored anywhere. But almost on cue, 35,000 images of passengers were found to be stored in some govt. facility.

Well that makes perfect sense. If you can simply walk away, then if you are a terrorist packing bombs or whatever, you can try your luck boarding 50 flights, and if you are selected for pat-down/special treatment, you can refuse it every time and walk away. Sooner or later, you get lucky, don't get selected for special treatment and boom...next thing you know you are partying with allah and 72 virgins are yours for taking. :woot: rubber dinghy rapids bro

Btw, what if you're gay? You asked to be patted down by TSA official of opposite sex? :hmmm: Also, did anyone think about the plight of these poor TSA people? Poor SOBs have the worst jobs in the world already, get paid something like $10/hr and to make matters worse, you now have to touch total strangers in all sorts of uncomfortable ways (though not all might detest that prospect..:winky:)
