Dear Gaurav, u pointed a good point no control over line and length....shoib akhtar wasim malcolm marshal all genuine fast bowlers did not have control over there length early in there career.. slow medium pacers do have control .. even sreesanth does not have control would u call him a bad bowler..? only zaheer has control among fast medium bowlers.. in test u have to force a batsman to do mistakes i see umesh can turn into a good test fast bowler not a good one day fast bowler, he should be picked in tests only initially till he becomes a good bowler...mithun is too slow , unadket is good but he needs a bit more of pace to become genuinely dangerous, dhawal is average. umesh and probably sudeep tyagi and i loved that bowler in mumbai team in IPL , that tear away fast bowler i missed his name...he is good , can anybody tell me about him.
Hi Vishal, first of all welcome to ICF :icflove: Now, you pointed out that Umesh Yadav has done reasonably well in the domestic circuit, fair enough.I am saying that he doesn't have swing to rouble most of the international batsman.He has got good pace, but players of international standards, unline Domestic players, aren't disintegrated by raw pace, it requires some swing, to dismiss them.So far, I haven't seen him swing the ball, he just angles it in with pace, very straight.If he can add that to his armoury, he will be a sure pick for the Test side in the near future, if he does well. Now talking about Sreesanth, he has got genuine swing in his bag, that gives him the edge.He sprays it all round alright, but when he gets it right, there are few better bowlers than him.

watch challenger trophy final...he swung the ball with good seam position in those hot and humid conditions...though was unlucky not to get many wickets...but he was quite good in that game...batsman were playing him very cautiously mainly from the back foot and quite a few fours were just defensive pushes or edges....swing only happens conditions are suitable which is very rate now a days...but pace will always help a bowler....where you agree or not but its a fact..... and Sreesanth is good only when he gets it right but he never gets it right and if it is..its just one in a blue moon

thanks gaurav and rocket...but i am very happy with the 5 fast bowlers picked.... its like i have picked them myself..what srikkanth & co have picked are the ones i would have picked...i have high hopes from jaydev and umesh both , mithun is also good but i feel investing in umesh will yield better returns ..like investing in srinath and zaheer gave us.. zaheer was just a fast bowler initially now he is a fast medium swing bowler with great skills... mithun has stamina but i feel he will not be the next srinath or next zaheer he is not a bowler with extraordinary skills and even in lanka he wasnt a great hit ,,,everybody talks higly about his performance there but i feel ishant was better than him, i feel he may suit one days later , umesh is going to be a hit for sure sooner than later, i see some runs scored of his balls as not shots but edges mis hits , against fiery pacers batsman is not in control and he seems only fast bowling talent we have as others seem trundlers.. i feel abu nachim was also genuinely fast buit where is he , what is he doing..he was preety fast in IPL and his action looked good too..Vishal

mithun and tyagi are the next best options after zak and 'du'shant
Mithun dsnt have smgood bowling, lot of technical problems there...If he rectifies them...He can improve his pace

a more important thread would be "the spin bowling stocks". that cupboard appears to be more bare than the backup pacers.we are in trouble when we need a perfect pitch for our spinners to be effective at home.

nailed! There is noone in the horizon to become a genuine matchwinning spinner... Ojha is more of a "wait patiently and wickets will come.." kind of a bowler.. bhajan is morphing into a batsman.. don't see a spinner who will run through the opposition
