If anyone has paid a price for Sachin,s contribution to Indian cricket and for his endless popularity, it's his family- his wife and children. We will always talk about how great Sachin has been and how much he has done for the country and we will always forget the sacrifices Mrs. Anjali Tendulkar and the children made in that contribution. His wife and his children have the first right on the time he spends trying to make us millions of fans happy. Imagine the long tours and imagine how the wife must have managed everything all by herself. Imagine what she must have felt walking through malls hearing people demand Sachin's head for not scoring runs when she knows how he has spent months in nets trying to get back in form ignoring his wife and children. But Sachin is a good man. He makes sure to spend whatever time he can with his family.

These are choices people make, and its part of the package. A choice is not a sacrifice. That will be trivializing the word sacrifice.

There are 1000s of people who travel Mon-Fri and only spend weekends with their kids, a lot of migrants dont even get to see their families for years. Its their choice and their profession.

That is the trade-off they have to make for the benefit they get out of public life. Why harangue the kids with unsolicited coverage as well? At least let them lead a normal life. Somebody needs to lay down some ground rules for the Indian media. If there's a terror siege in a hotel, they give live, minute-by-minute updates as to what the security forces are planning to thwart the militants, helping the terrorists themselves. If there's a rape victim, they splash her photo all over the front page. They dont spare even the kids of celebs.
