zen Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Ah ha, the customary duck shot! Tip: May be you need to keep an eye on the white balance. Try using "cloudy" as the pictures have a bluish tint (auto WB?)
Nova Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I was into photography a long time ago..circa 2004. Now, have absolutely no time pursuing the awesome hobby. I owned a Canon Rebel XT/350D DSLR with just the kit lens and got into panoramics as a niche. Bought a tripod and the Panosaurus pano head...at that time the investment was almost $1200. This was my first camera ever and I had zero experience in photography. Some people would recommend to start from a point & shoot but I straight away jumped into the DSLR world. Started reading on photography a lot and ended up buying the PTAssembler software for $30 to stitch large pics. I got inspired by Max Lyon who specialized in huge multi gigapixel photography. http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/ He has a great forum on his site to discuss panoramic photography too. I went to a couple state parks in the north-east area in the US to try out my new hobby and came home with 3-4 GB raw photographs all ready to be stitched. The weather was so gloomy on a couple days, not much light to get any beautiful skies. I soon realized that I loved post processing more and used to spend hours at end experimenting in photoshop. I used to shut myself from the world for days at end and just sit in front of the computer diving into photoshop. I spent more time on photo manipulations than learning the skill of actual photography, and soon I sold my camera after 3-4 months., having used it only on two road trips. Most of the raw pics are still unprocessed and unstitched sitting on my hard drive. May be some day I will look at those again. Anyway, below are a few pics I took on my very first experience at photography:
Nova Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Having sold the DSLR long time ago, now I own my little and precious point & shoot: Canon Powershot A720. Couple years ago I used it to take the pics below..not untouched but the originals are good. The small sensor of this point & shoot gives nice pics in daylight.

I spent the entire 7 hours on the train documenting the journey by taking photographs all by P&S. :) 195 photos in total. Let go of the mouse, relax on your chair & enjoy the show.
