All this because we lost the toss

Bowlers, esp in the current Indian squad, get wickets from the pitch conditions or from match conditions. So, once they lost the toss and had to bat on a wet pitch with 2 world class pacement on D1 of a T1, it was doom written all over it, somebody had to play out of their skins. With pitch like this or on D2, India would definitely would have put a 400. The Pitch on D1 and the toss loss is the reason we are facing a 400 run deficit. This should be pretty clear, unless you are a wrist slitter or a padosi.

He simply didn't deserve to be part of the squad and the ONLY good thing about his utter humiliation now is that the selectors will be forced to go another route and leave him out of the squad with a year full of foreign tours coming up.
I was overly critical of our bowling too.. till now that I see Gambhir and Sehwag making mincedmeat out of Morkel and Steyn in the second innings... now I am wondering what could have been if Dhoni had won the toss..:hmmm2: Both of these guys are not disciplined line and length bowlers (we already know that)..they try to make things happen when things aren't going their way instead of waiting for the batters to make mistakes. Mark my words..Sreesanth and Ishant will win us a test..and it would most probably be at Kingsmead..

Your post makes it look like Indian batsmen are only good enough on flat tracks...from the looks of it I would hardly disagree, but Chris Martin didn't get much bounce and swing either.

And this wickets is not absolute phatta. There's always something for the bowlers in SA, this wicket got plenty. Indian bowling was just horrendous to say the least.
Second-time round..We're 92/0 in 17 overs against the same bowling line-up and will most pbly hit 300 by e.o.d. Agree that the wicket isn't a road..but it is still not as difficult as it was on the first day.. We lack disciplined bowlers who hit the same line and length all day regardless of what the pitch does.. I am hoping for some turn and bounce on day 5 when we hopefully put SA to bat.. maybe Raina can get a 5-fer :woot:

Don't tell me Indian bastmen didn't have the best conditions of the match. The shot selection comes from how the match is placed and how is the pitch. If Sehwag had survivied that shot as he usually plays like (we are #1 because of his batting) the match would have been differently placed., Did you expect the team to put up 400 everytime they bat once they become #1?

#1 team should be good or atlesat decent enough to bat on any condition. 1st innings just goes on to show that India is no different from several other countries when it comes to lively pitches. And honestly pitch wasn't that dreadful, most of them got out due to bad shot selection. You guys have played at home on dead wickets so much that any little bounce and swing makes you think of conditions being really tough. And this wickets is not absolute phatta. There's always something for the bowlers in SA, this wicket got plenty. Indian bowling was just horrendous to say the least.
Its the first overseas tour for a while, we did not have match prqactise and conditions were horrible. Cut us some slack. BTW, even when the Australians were at their dominating best they did have dreadful innings like this but the mark of a great team is not that they will never be in difficult situatins but that they will bounce back hard from one

:haha: good positive thinking....but a little too positive. I am not having a go at Indian batsmen, all I am saying is that you guys should stop blaming the pitch and just accept the fact that Indian batting had a bad outing due to bad shots. Yes pitch was helpful, but bad shots didn't help much either. Nothing wrong with that, such things happen.

^exactly...they played bad shots' date=' should have been forward to some of those deliveries[/quote'] Did you see the pitch on day 1? The ball was rising from good length to the throat. Nothing like that happened on day 2-3. In those conditions its understandable why the batsmen were stuck on the back foot expecting the ball to bounce

I agree with you but 250 would have been score I was looking for even under those conditions.. Sehwag played bad shot (ok he does that often no biggie), Laxman played accross to full delivery...so did Sachin... what I am trying to say is last time in Jo'berg it was even worse conditions, ball was moving all 4 days..Tendulkar and Dravid played sensible cricket...to get us over 200 and then it was Sreesanth magic..

WTF is this crap. When the ball is swinging and bouncing erratically, no batsman can get 200s.#1 means we are better than others in most condition. Even when Aussies, with the best team in history, couldnt hold back bhajji, a noobie at that time. Cricket has always been between a batsman and a bowlers and wen the bowler gets the condition he gets like in the 1st day of this test, he would end up getting wickets like SA did on the 1st day. There has never been any batsman who can go in into any pitches and get 100s or 200s against every bowler. Even bradman refused to play agianst Indian spinners in India. So STFU about illogical expectations.

Pitch was very very bouncy first day with plenty of lateral movement. Combination of good bowling and helpful conditions INdia succumbed. If this pitch had been offered in the 2nd test they would have batted slightly better. Also if you are used to scoring big suddenly you find a track like this it is hard to change your batting approach all of a sudden. If INdia can't survive on this pitch against this attack on day 1 not many teams can do.

It is ridiculous to excuse the pathetic Indian bowling especially from Sreesanth because we lost the toss. Yes the pitch is easier to bat on, but the difference isn't in the conditions, it's in the way you bowl. On a good batting track you can still bowl tight lines, with a fuller disciplined length with the new ball and then use the bouncer as a shock delivery with extra effort once the ball gets soft and that's all you can as a bowler. The problem is, even WITH the new ball when it is swinging, this dancing donkey would rather bowl short at 82mph, get swatted away for four then stare at the batsmen as if he's Courtney Walsh. This dumb***** can't bowl a single consistent spell with a fuller length when given the new ball when the South African bowlers clearly showed that was the way to go. AND that's the REAL problem here. Never mind the softer ball, the pitch getting easier to bat on, the problem is Sreesanth hardly even takes wickets with the new ball and hardly ever LOOKS like taking wickets with the new ball. With that kind of incompetence from a new ball bowler is destroys anything else the rest of the bowlers can do, because by the time the first/second chance bowlers come around they're bowling to well set batsmen thanks to a half brain, half talented donkey. Dump this fluke dancing donkey.

Yes Sreesanth is useless. But if we had got similar conditions to the 1st day, even that Donkey would have been picking up wickets.

Yes Sreesanth is useless. But if we had got similar conditions to the 1st day' date=' even that Donkey would have been picking up wickets.[/quote'] No, this is where you are wrong. Test Match bowling IS NOT a series of events that just happen independantly of what a bowler is doing. The basics will always apply from bowling a fuller length with the new ball, to sticking with a great line and varying it with shock bouncers once it gets old. History and the facts are on my side. You're belief that Sree just shows up and the conditions are good and he gets wickets is the just ungrounded optimism based more on hope rather than fact. It's the same mistake the selectors keep on making.
Posted

But nevermind. I didn't want Sree to be in the squad in the first place but many here said "He was successful in SA before so he must play there again!" Now it's not because Sree, it's because of the pitch. I wonder what excuses will be made next for this pathetic waste of a bowler.
