Ishant wud seriously be a much better bowler if he pitched the ball further up... right now the only deliveries he produces are short... shorter and ridiculous. I can understand the no-balls coz of his long legs , but he has no excuse for persistenly bowling short short short.... ice cream

Is he the tallest fast bowler to have played this game? There are several. He just needs to work on this aspect.

It was a close call and the line belongs to the umpire. The point is he bowls so many of those no-balls, that even the umpire may easily make a mistake the close calls. Best to use technology to 'bleep' on the no balls, will be far fewer mistakes. (Like they do for tennis foot faults)
Behind the line does not belong to the umipre and he was behind the line. Bad decision by umipre not Ishant. You should aim your moaning at umpire in this scenario but strangley after the indian Ishant!

Yes, but when you keep crossing the line and keep touching the line, the ump. is bound to call one that isn't. Ofcourse that is the human element that BCCI wanted. So, can't blame the umpire either, just accept the decision.

You cant just look at the one specific delivery, you (dsr) has to see the pattern of so many no balls. Katie just blindly refusing to see that pattern. (and also ignoring the repeated mindless short pitch bowling that IS was attempting, virtually rendering MSD with only 3 bowlers to operate) We really need a much better focussed I.S. at Cape Town. Period.

Ishant got yet another 'no ball wicket' yesterday. (The letoff was not costly though). I really hope Eric Simons is doing everything he can to help with the no ball problems for both Ishant and Sreesanth. When Kallis got out, Steve Davis went for the no ball check, thank heavens it was ok. If that was a no ball, it would have been heartbreaking - especially after bowling the brute of a delivery.
Ishant does not tape measure his run up. I remember the commentary team saying that this is unusual. I'd say he should be encouraged to tape measure the run up, if he hasn't tried it before. When he is in rhythm, he is a solid bowler, as shown by the seven wickets against NZ - he can still crank it up to 140kph too - just needs to find that elusive rhythm.

Well they are the best we got as backup at the moment...Both Ishanth and Sree can produce these magical spells once in a while...They have the ability now they need a good guidance
I do not think they are the best that we have as back up. Munaf, for example, is consistently performing in domestic cricket. Do you think that Sree and Ishant, as they are bowling now, would be taking constant Super League wickets? I do not think they could have picked up club wickets in the way they bowled in the first Test.

Long legs do not excuse no balls. If his legs were growing in size as he ran in to bowl, then perhaps he could be excused. However, they remain the same size throughout and so no balls cannot be excused on that basis.

I do not what these bowlers do in the nets..it is all done in nets...he needs to bowl in the nets like a test...otherwise he will never rectify these errors

One thing is for sure' date=' Its Zaheer's presence which is carrying this pace bowling attack. Without him, it doesn't even look half as effective.[/quote'] AND????? Take Steyn out of SA attack and they will look more then half effective. Take warne out of aus attack and they are now pathetic etc etc. Why is it only with India that the take him out and they are rubbish gets banded about

Well, we saw that in the first test what happened and in numerous occasions before. and how our pace bowling unit suddenly props up in presence of Zaheer. It looks so much more potent. Thats no coincidence Yes, Take out Zaheer, our bowling unit is pathetic Its been ages since Harbahajan looked effective as he did. I really hope this is start of good things to come from his side.

Certainly - without Zaheer Khan the bowling attack wont even equal a popgun attack. He leads all the bowlers.

with Styen too could do nothing in UAE tests against pak.........their attack is very overrated too......an attack which can win in flattest of conditions is the best attack and unfortunately after aussie quarter of mcgrath, lee, gillespie, and warne..attacks are pretty toothless until there is help...

why should we compare with other teams, make excuses and justify the poor performances. Lets look at our own backyard. If Zaheer isnt around, i fear there will be no bowling attack worth the mention. best approach would for BCCI to strongly associate with MRF pace academy, hire them(pay lots of money) to identify and develop pace talents in India.

This is the thing I am talking about for a long time now. In another thread i had said that England dint have many good fast bowlers before 2000s..they established Academies and identified the talent at a young age and now they have good fast bowling pool... BCCI needs to do the same thing..identify the pacers at U-19 and work with them with good training programs....we can have one or two exceptional talent coming out of the blue but if we want to be inarguable champions, we should start that system as soon as possible....

SA without steyn would be more pathetic then india without Khan. tsobe would open bowling get smacked, then would have to turn to harris and he would have to bowl loads more overs! Saffies would have a pop gun attack
