LOL...where did I say Kallis is better than Tendulkar. Just saying that Kallis has a higher average. Btw, Sutfcliffe is from a completely different era if I am not mistaken and plus having played a lot fewer innings, do you have any examples from the current generation?

Just around a year or so ago Sanga had the best average among all the players. Pawning touched 59.99 during the mid 2000s. At this very moment I think Kallis has the best average. In any case I do not consider a batsman greater than another just coz the average is higher by 1 or 2 runs especially when it comes to guys who average above 50. I think a +/- 10% tolerance limit on either side means they are at par. Lara, Rahul, Kallis, Sachin, Pawning, Waugh, Sanga are all in the same ball park per me as far as stats are concerned

Kallis is a batting allrounder and probably one of the biggest MVP's to play the game......but it will be far=fetched to call him the greatest allrounder ever....Kallis would not even get into Indian team solely as a bowler....Maybe Ban and Zim

ya how is he just current best.. while tendulkar is atg international player? :dontknow: honestly as a test batsman alone kallis is up there ..yes tendulkar is much better in odis i agree but why cant we give him his due credit .. he will get to 50 test hundreds and thats just stats people criticized his record against england now he jsut smashed 182 wont change much but 1-2 more hundreds will also ok forget sachin he plays for india so obviously we will like him more most people rate ponting much better then kallis ...why ? ponting was crap in sub continent kallis has been pretty dominant here i think he is as good as ponting if not better

Kallis > Sachin in tests batting Kallis is a decent test medium pacer. He is probably the best test alrounder ever. PS : collective subjectivity = objectivity, dont let anyone else tell you otherwise.

The average peaks seemed a bit interesting to me and did a few queries (10+ innings ): Tendulkar Highest average peaked at 59.16541353 v West Indies Port of Spain 19 Apr 2002) in his 156th inning Sanga Highest average peaked at 57.25 v West Indies Colombo (RPS) 23-Nov-10 in his 163rd inning Lara Two peaks for Lara...he peaked very early on in his career in the 27th innings and hence posting a second one as well which occured in the 58th innings. After this Lara fell considerably before a bit of a recovery near the end of his career. Highest average peaked 62.61538462 v England St John's 16 Apr 1994 in his 27th innings Highest average peaked again at 60.32075472 v New Zealand St John's 27 Apr 1996 in his 58th innings Kallis Highest average peaked at 58.20886076 16-Nov-07 "v New Zealand Centurion" in his 197th inning Ponting Highest average peaked at 60.06535948 v England Adelaide 1-Dec-06 in his 189th inning
