They have solid batters in their top order, more than a decent wicket keeper bat, a top class spinner who can again contribute with the bat and and all round swing/seam attack. 3 innings defeats in a single series in Aus is a massive achievement and we should commend them for that. I think our series against them is going to be top notch and if we have a fit bowling attack, we should be able to draw or win the series against them. Nevertheless it is going to be fantastic to watch India play in England later this year.

Their Ashes campaign was so successful because almost of their players were either in peak form, or very close to it, during that series. That doesn’t happen very often. Lets see what happens when few of their players, especially their batsmen, go out of form. Someone like Alistair Cook scored 700 runs in this series alone. That is more than the entire Pakistani top order put together in the last 5 years. With the technique that he has, he is extremely susceptible to wild oscillations in his batting form. Lets see how their bowlers, especially their pacers cope in the subcontinent, when there wont be as much help or assistance. Lets see how their lower-middle order copes with our spinners. Their media hypes up their team in the worst of situations. They just beat Australia by an innings in 3 matches. Its no wonder they’re going bonkers now.

cowboysfan Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 The side that played Australia didnt have Weak links apart from Collingwood,that is rare in a test side where everybody contributes to your winning effort.Some of this might be attrbuted to the complete lack of punch in the Australian bowling but i believe their batsmen have really improved especially Cook and Bell).This doesnt mean they will beat India,the pitches in England might actually Indian bowlers and i back Zak,Sree and Bhajji to bowl well.If we can find a suitable replacement for Ishant then we are going to win the series as our batting is superior to them. I predict 2-1 or 2-0 India.

RP may get back in if gets fit. That will be enough to handle you guys. Especially after galiticos have put 800 on the board

When Brsenan who was slogged all over the park by Tamim Iqbal become a major force then something really good is happening for the team. Kudos to them it is no mean achievement what they have done.

I predict 2-1 or 2-0 India. I truly hope BCCI has had the common sense to provide a couple of practice games to help team India get acclimatized to English conditions. Otherwise the first test basically ends up being a practice game and we end up losing badly and starting yet another series horribly.

The Outsider Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 The biggest worry for me is Zaheer's fitness. He is in awesome form and has developed incredible skills, but not of much use if he can't get on the field. He is going to play the World Cup, IPL, and WI series before the England tests and I doubt he will be available for 4 test matches. He really needs to give up the shorter formats after the WC - obviously can't give up the IPL - and really needs to get into the sort of fitness regime which saw him comeback in 2006. He looked lean and fit at that point and has really put on a lot of weight. I hate to say it, but without Zaheer England are clear favorites for the series.

Both Tremlette and Bresnan were impressive with impeccable control. So they are most balanced team in my view. But I still feel India will draw or win the series.
