Firstly, I would have backed Sarul Kanwar because he scores at a brisk rate and had don reasonably well in the last game. I suppose the North Zone selectors wanted to rotate the players and offer the chance to as many players as possible. Dhawan again got out to a short ball 9.5 and there is the second wicket already! Mithun pitches it short and slows it down a touch. Dhawan is early into it and pulls it straight into the hands of Mukund at midwicket 9/2 And Mandeep played a very "unpolished" and edgy innings and poor temperament in the over that he got out to Aravind. A bit disappointing after what I had seen of him in the u19 WC. Perhaps it was just an off day for him and the exposure and experience will help him. Manhas was looking good until he got beat by Vinay Kumar 18.4 Vinay Kumar has this ability to move the ball both ways. This time he jags it back in and beats the defenses of Manhas. Manhas hears the rattle behind him and has to walk back 30/3 Aravind and Vinay Kumar bowled really well and put the pressure on the batsmen in that first session. I think VInay Kumar is at his best in the longer version of the game. Paras Dogra played a much needed innings and needs to go onto score a big double. And a good recovery for NZ after being 4/42

And a good recovery for NZ after being 4/42 The pitch had a lot of help for the pacers for first 2-3 hours. Batting in the first 90 minutes was quite tough with pacers getting lot of seam and swing. Not a surprise to see the top order struggle. yes they all got out to bad shots, but those bad shots were a result of the frutration of getting beaten on numerous occassions. With some luck, SZ could have picked 5-6 wickets in the first session itself.

DAY ONE Dogra's unbeaten century rescues North STANDING TALL: Paras Dogra played with confidence to pull North Zone out of early trouble. South Zone had North Zone deep in trouble early on the first day. But, Paras Dogra stood like a rock and helped North finish the day at 266 for seven. The 26-year-old Himachal player's unbeaten 147 (201b, 296m, 16x4, 5x6) pulled North out of the woods. North's wish of winning the toss on a batting track was fulfilled but tidy bowling by the pace-and-spin combination of the South bowlers, who just stuck to the basics, had North reeling at 42 for four by the 28th over. Horrid start On a pitch with some moisture that helped the seamers, South Zone chose to introduce Pragyan Ohja as early as the ninth over, and the strategy paid off immediately with Nitin Saini edging a looping delivery to CM Gautam behind the stumps. Shikar Dhawan followed Saini one over later, slapping an Abhimanyu Mithun short ball that stopped on him straight to midwicket. Ojha limped off the field a little while later, having stopped a Mithun Manhas straight drive with his right ankle, but the seamers continued to make inroads. Superb delivery The delivery that claimed Mithun Manhas during the pre-lunch session was a good one — an in-swinger from Vinay Kumar that rattled the stumps. Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who came on to bowl the ninth over of the match, had immediate success sending back Nitin Saini. However, Ojha had to leave the field later with a strained muscle but he was back on the field late in the afternoon. Dogra was a contrast to the others as he played with confidence and attacked the bowlers. Chanceless knock Dogra played the on-drive as well as the lofted shots quite well. It was a chanceless knock by the youngster, who reached his century with a six over long-on off Ojha. It was during the third session of the day that North looked like posting a decent score. Dogra forged two good partnerships to steady things for North. Initial recovery His 99-run stand for the fifth wicket with Yashpal Singh (32, 92b, 5x4) helped the team's initial recovery. Dogra had made a patient 8 from 29 balls at this stage, and set about repairing the innings in the company of Yashpal Singh. He was fairly circumspect to begin with, making sure to defend the good balls, but at the same time not missing out on the opportunities for boundaries when the bowlers erred in line or length. He began to open his shoulders with the introduction of S Badrinath, whom he dispatched for two sixes and two fours. The pair had added 99, taking the score to 141, when Yashpal fell to S Aravind for 32. Then, with the left-handed Uday Kaul (38, 81b, 3x4) Dogra added 89 for the sixth wicket. The loss of his partner did nothing to slow Dogra down, however. Having taken 103 balls to reach his fifty, he only needed a further 40 balls to get to his hundred, which he did in style, smashing Ohja over cow corner for six. Such was his confidence at this stage that one ball later he skipped down the track and went inside out over extra-cover for another six. They scored at 4.13 runs an over and gave the innings a sheen of respectability. South strikes again Kaul departed trying to push the score, his lofted shot off Abhinav Mukund landed in Vinay Kumar's hands at long-off. South struck again when a rising ball from Vinay Kumar took the inside edge of captain Amit Mishra's bat and landed on the stumps. North's hopes now rest on Dogra to rally with the tail and help it post a score beyond 350.

If he'll keep on bowling at leg stump or middle stump going down the leg, he'll keep getting harsh treatment even from batsmen like Uthappa. Why can't he bowl a good line? It isn't as if he is concentrating on pace or something? These days he neither has pace nor accuracy or variarion. How on earth will he take wickets? What has gone wrong with him? If he has an injury, as I read somewhere, why isn't he getting the surgery done?

Who can help him??? It might be due to technical flaws creeping in due to non stop cricket but it has certainly got to with injury as well. I had posted this news last year after he was rested for the second test vs the Australians and couldn't make a come back till Zaheer was injured for the third test vs the kiwis. Uthappa drives it over cover. It wasn't so well timed, so it just sails over the cover fielder and he takes three runs There is a confrontation there as Ishant came in the way of Uthappa on the first run. He had no business to be in the way of the batsman. It seemed as if Uthappa intentionally barged into Ishant at the end of third run. What follows is not pleasant as Uthappa and Ishant go face to face and a few words are exchanged. Ishant wants more and is advancing towards Uthappa before he is dragged back by his team mates And from hereon Ishant seemed to have losing it: 7.5 Sharma to Mukund, FOUR, fuller on the leg stump. Mukund flicks it past midwicket for a superb boundary. Mukund seems to benefitting from that duel as he gets a loose ball And when he came to bowl to Uthappa, he gave him few harsh treatment: 11.1 Sharma to Uthappa, FOUR, fuller ball outside the off stump. Uthappa lofts it over the head of the bowler for a boundary Round 1 to Uthappa then 11.2 Sharma to Uthappa, 1 run, on the leg stump. Uthappa tucks it away to deep midwicket for a single Uthappa showing remarkable poise there and is not affected by that confrontation he had with Ishant Right then we are back to Uthappa v Ishant 11.6 Sharma to Uthappa, SIX, short delivery on the leg stump. Uthappa pulls it behind square and over the ropes for a six. Ishant is obviously not impressed and chirps away at Uthappa. Uthappa does not mind all of it and is busy chatting away to Mukund I don't know whose fault it was during the confrontation, but Uthappa has been punished by the match referee. This is what he has tweeted just an hour back: robbieu9 Jus got reprimanded 100% of my match fees for my scuffle wid ishant. I regret not apologizing to him after bumping into him even tho.. It was completely unintentional. Wat I did by not apologizin was very wrong as a cricketer and specially as a christian.Wil nvr do dt again. Don't know if Ishant was punished as well! Anyone saw this live?
