Ultimate_Game Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Pretty knee jerk reaction. Both Ashwin and Chawla are not great players and have not a lot of experience. You lot make it sound that Ashwin is the next Murali. So next match, Ashwin plays bad, back to Chawla?? Compared to Chawla he is. And don't think this reaction is knee-jerk. Chawla has been our most expensive and worst bowler in 2 consecutive games. Even part-timers are outbowling him at the moment.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Unleash ashwin for q/finals. Dont let other teams have a look at him. He gotta get a game or two to get used to the pressure of playing in the world cup. You can't keep someone on the bench for more than a month and bring him back for a must-win game.

And Ashwin is overrated and is being helped by Chawla immensely.

vaibhav_delhi Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Chalwa 8 overs 0-56. can someone pls tell why is he being played over Ashwin??
Ultimate_Game Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Let him have one game against the Dutch. But thats it I would play Ashwin in all the games to see how he performs. There's nothing much you can learn by playing against Dutch - they are so poor that any decent bowler will perform against them. Let him play against SA and Windies as well. Also other teams already have enough info on him based on his IPL performances so he won't be novelty for the major teams.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Yuvraj gets his 4th  If we get good tight disciplined bowling from our specialist spinner, our support bowlers are more than handy to provide support.
HowardRoark Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Pretty knee jerk reaction. Both Ashwin and Chawla are not great players and have not a lot of experience. You lot make it sound that Ashwin is the next Murali. So next match, Ashwin plays bad, back to Chawla?? I have been following your posts for some time now...when was the last time you had nice words to say for a player from the south? Is the hatred so deep rooted?? You and another obvious narrow minded loser from the north cannot have enough players from your 'region' in the team, can you??? BTW, Ashwin may or may not be the next Murali, but he deserves the chance surely. And he doesn't have to be a Murali to better Chawla, who is bowling like a club bowler at the moment.
jhakati Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 On a pitch which is spinning a lot and every bowler including Yuvraj and Yusuf Pathan is making it tough for the batsman Chawla has been taken to cleaners by Ireland!!! The guy has no control over where he's bowling and is all over the place. It's either short, too full, down the leg side for a wide and if he manages to get in the right place once every 3 overs he goes up in appeal for nothing! I have had enough of Chawla and it's time for Ashwin to get a game. We have seen enough of Chawla and he's at best a practice bowler to provide practice to batsmen before facing Tahir for the SA game - that's the only role I can see for Chawla in the near future. As I type, Chawla has conceded nearly 60 runs to Ireland on a turning track in 8 overs and that too without taking a wicket!!! :omg: obviously chawla is crap and ashwin will be selected here on in the world cup dont select chawla again in national colors, hes messed up too many times!
achilles Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I don't understand it either. Perhaps N Srinivasan should intervene by abusing his obvious clout and ensure that Ashwin gets a spot in the playing XI :cantstop: Also, he should abooz his paawer even more and get a "4 internationals in an XI" rule into the picture and get the CSK team to represent India. :csk: Out, out the demons from Delhi, Bambi & Poonjab :yay:

Do not make it as a logic because what you expect rarely matters, it is what you do. Both Chawla and Ashwin therefore are of the same stage.
saneindian Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Chalwa 8 overs 0-56. can someone pls tell why is he being played over Ashwin?? Maybe because he bowled better than Ashwin during the practice match and won us the match vs Aussies single handedly? Got his chance, did not grab it, so now Ashwin will get picked which is how it should be.
Lord Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 hope Dhoni would realise histake n not play Chawla again
vvvslaxman Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Harbhajan has managed to escape thanks to Piyush. He is economical alright. But he is there to take wickets.
HowardRoark Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Illogical arguments, to put it lightly. He deserves the chance just like every other bowler. This is the key point. Yeah, so going by your 'key point', Ashwin should now get the chances that this crappy Chawla has got to prove himself. Chawla has played bad, there is no argument but that does not mean Ashwin will be a better replacement. Yeah, and how do you assume/know Ashwin will not be a better replacement? Only if given a chance, we can find it out. That's what everybody is suggesting here. Do not make it as a logic because what you expect rarely matters, it is what you do. Exactly, 'what you do' is what matters. Chawla hasn't done a jacksh1t in the opportunities given so far. So let's give chances to Ashwin and see what he can do.

Till then, he is no different to the likes of Sree, Nehra. He is no golden arm by any means and this hype created will only add more pressure to him. Just like Chawla after Australia game where he was rated as a great spinner.

Mate atleast ashwin has played some odis last year for india ,also his performances have been solid so there is no point selecting chawla over him just on basis of practice match.
Hell Raiser Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Ashwin is ceratinly better than Chawla. I don't know why Dhoni isn't giving him consistent chances. When Gambhir was captain in series against NZ he really showed alot of faith in abilities of Ashwin and Ashwin didn't disappointed him.

All I can think of is that Ashwin probably doesn't know much Hindi and Dhoni usually talks to his players in Hindi . Lets hope Dhoni picks Ashwin for the next match and stops giving chances to that loser Chawla !
