Temujin Khaghan Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Are you making a logical choice dropping Raina away, probably, but the right one? because in the latest Star Trek movie, we got a saying, "if you're gonna ride in the Kentucky derby you don't leave your prize stallion in the stable." 8AflwuJD1Ek
vvvslaxman Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 someone will post Yusuf pathan's innings and Kohli's innings recently. So it is pretty hard to be in his shoes :winky: Everyone wants him in. But at the same time among the three that are competing formwise other 2 are going to be ahead of Raina.
cowboysfan Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Raina is more like a Gelding than a stallion at the moment, even mediocre bowlers can bounce him out.He is danger of permanently losing his test place too if he doesnt fix it.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Raina is more like a Gelding than a stallion at the moment' date='even mediocre bowlers can bounce him out.[/quote'] World Cup is in India, so bounce won't be as big a factor as it was in South Africa or Aus etc. He is danger of permanently losing his test place too if he doesnt fix it. and this is the ODI World Cup we're talking about so how does losing his test spot come into the picture right now :hmmm:

Clarke Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 What's more, he's going to be our savior with his bowling. He has the mysterious pause which troubles the best of batsmen.
cowboysfan Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Imo Raina has bigger problems than getting a place in the starting 11 in this world cup.He is a promising player for India .Right now his short ball weakness in his head and has messed him up.He can get through this by working on it(for example he can leave a bouncer alone even in odis, its not a big deal).Ganguly sort of did it,there is no reason Raina cant do it.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Not again... we already have a few "Select Raina" or "Raina Vs Kohli" threads going
vvvslaxman Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Not again... we already have a few "Select Raina" or "Raina Vs Kohli" threads going yea... Dhoni has categorically put every argument to the rest. He didn't really have to do it. But it is the right call. I would have done the same. I am a big fan of Raina. But Yusuf is undroppable, Kohli is undroppable. By quirk of fate he is not playing more than anything else.

He used to be a massive six hitter. I really miss his aggressive batting form. Yusuf Pathan is the man who can finish a game on his own.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Batting is not a problem for us... I just hope Zaheer gets on top of his game, Harbhajan starts taking wickets, Nehra/Munaf provide decent support to Zaheer and Ashwin is able to what Chawla hasn't been able to - take wkts and put pressure on the batting team during middle overs of the innings.

veer Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 just wait on someone to get injured.. (veeru or gambhir)
Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 are'nt you hoping for too many things :winky: Hope is eternal my friend, especially for someone who gets up at 3.30 to follow the Indian team

Ultimate_Game Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 :adore: In fact there are a bunch of folks who are doing that here... few of my friends and I get together at each other's place for the game and am "working from home" tomorrow :winky:

saneindian Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Have said this many times, will repeat it again, this is a long tournament. Think of it, we are still 6 matches and nearly 4 weeks away from the finals. Raina is going to get his opportunity at some stage as he is the only reserve batsman in the team. Needs to be mentally prepared and grab the chance that comes his way.
coffee_rules Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Raina is the Umer Akmal of India...High on promise, low on confidence and for big match occasions.
