Dhoni behavior is akin to what a stubborn mule does!

He should be really ashamed of himself bowling those pathetic half-trackers on a regular basis..And he has been bowling like that for long. In all the 3 IPL editions, he bowled like that regularly for Kings XI Punjab..No wonder Kings XI Punjab ended up at the bottom of the pile on those IPL editions. Not comparing his bwoling in T20 matches to what he does in ODIs but I've seen him consitently bowl half trackers and no-balls. He drags the ball down while bowling a leg-spin and the ball pitches short of lenght giving enough time for the batsman to whack it.. So I can understand what Dhoni means when he says about Chawlas "patches of brilliance". It means in patches he bowls a good length deliveries..In other "patches" he bowls half-trackers..In some other "patches" he bowls no-balls.. So select whichever "patches" you like and be happy..
Your display pics are hilarious. You somehow always manage to put the flavour of the season in it :--D

This reminds me of Dhoni's persistent faith in our very own Joginder Sharma in the inaugural T20 WC. We all know how that turned out. Dhoni is a contrarion!

If I'm not mistaken, in the post match press conference or something, Dhoni was questioned about Bhajji's lack of wicket-taking skills right now by some reporter and he said something like,'Batsmen are naturally defensive against him, but once they try to hit him around the park, he'll get his wickets'. I'm still waiting for that day.

:hysterical: Luaghable comment by Dhoni. So he is implying that batsmen are not "defensive" against top spinners of other teams and "donating" their wickets away..I don't think Bhajji will mind few "donation" wickets coming his way.. Seriously, Dhoni should stop giving details and excuses for every question jouranists ask. He appears more and more stupid..

I think its the fans who are behaving like mules by always picking on a single member of the squad and blaming him for the ills of a team. First it was Yusuf Pathan, then Jadeja, then during tests for a brief time it was "why Ojha, why not Mishra", in between Nehra was the villain and now the new target is Chawla. Put every blame on the door of one individual and keep punching him. Yes he has been inconsistent and has hardly bowled to potential, but the the kind of pasting he has been getting on the forum isn't justified IMO. 1-2 good performances and everyone will jump on the bandwagon like they did with Yusuf Pathan, Ojha or even Virat Kohli.
Dude This is world cup ,We cannot afford lapses,we have experimented and prepared for 2 years and our captain says we are giving practice matches to a bowler because he is mentally weak,Even paki's are speaking more sense than us.Atleast we can select our best 11 for worldcup matches.

:dito: If (And thats a big IF) Chawla bowls extremely well in the next two matches' date= all those who are calling for his head will switch sides.[/quote ... and pigs will fly:--D

Evidence?
I cannot be saving every article i read, for you or anybody...i read them in the past and recalling it here..
Did he secretly bowl to them in the nets and they selected him?
this is a dumb comment. if a player is on your radar, there are ways to keep themselves informed. for example, ganguly selected harbhajan for the 2001 series based on a net session.(refer wright's book)
When did Chawla become a matchwinner?
another silly comment. captains ,whether ganguly or dhoni will search for matchwinners.that's the nature of their business. dhoni clearly mentioned chawla "showed patches of birlliance", which indicates the direction where he is thinking. he is hoping that chawla will show such standards on a more sustained basis which will result in real matchwinning ability. and don't twist my words to post an useless hyperbole.
If we go by Dhoni's feelings we would still be playing Jaddu, JOginder, Manpreet Gony :cantstop:
they are out of the team now. what more do you want? only jadeja is likely to come back.

So whoever Dhoni picks are match winners? :cantstop: Dhoni said Ashwin is mentally strong. Chawla is mentally weak. So Ashwin should be a better match winner right? Why wasn't he played then? From the look of it it doesn't appear he didn't want to play better match winner.

What we will it take ? What more will it take to understand that Chawla doesn't belong there ? I think it is just egotistic on part of Dhoni to justify the decision of him being in the squad. Either play 3 seamers or get Ashwin.

A lost World Cup ? Even then don't be too sure, Dhoni will make other brilliant excuses, which many people will actually swallow... like his saying yesterday that Chawla is mentally weak, so deserves to play:hysterical:, which many people here ACTUALLY swallowed hook line and sinker :omg:

This is identical scenario if we cast our memory back to 2009 T20 cup. This was the comment at the start of match Toss South Africa will bat first. Smith: "We saw in the first game, it took a bit of turn. So we will bat first. The guys know it's an important week for us. The challenge in the tournament is each day you got to give the best. India have nothing to lose. Kallis has been rested. Morne Morkel gets in." Dhoni: "We need to be at our best. We are not really part of the semi-finals. It's a test of character. We want to be at our best. When you do well, you get appreciation, when you don't do well, you get criticism. It's part and parcel of the game. It's India. We are playing with the same side." Anil Kumble, in the Star Cricket studio, says he would have gone in for Pragyan Ojha on this spin-track. He reckons 160 is a defendable total here. Kepler Wessels reckons South Africa would want to win and take the confidence to the semi-final. Manan: "I think Dhoni is just trying to prove that this side is good enough to beat the best of teams(RSA) in this tournament. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense to not play Ojha on this wicket. Even IK Pathan. "

I think Ashwin will come in to the team in the latter stages of the tourney based on the following comment made by Dhoni at the toss... “Piyush Chawla stays. Compared to Ashwin, Chawla needs more practice so we decided to play him today. Ashwin is mentally stronger and it doesn't matter against whom he comes in, he will do well.” Essentially Dhoni wants to give as many chances to Chawla to see whether he can do the job at the business end of the tourney since he already knows what Ashwin can do and knows Ashwin can deliver without getting too many games in the group stages.
That is flawed logic - If Dhoni already knows Ashwin is mentally stronger and can deliver in pressure situation - then it makes even more sense to give Ashwin the chance to further improve upon what he already is capable of. It is not like making him play more frequently going to deteriorate his skills. However good/strong/experienced a player is, no excuses for necessity of match practice. And even if Ashwin is being 'hidden' as a secret weapon - more often than not, such tactic can backfire. (unless he is some 'unreadable' bowler like fresh-mendis/malinga). This has nothing to do with cricket, it is common sense - practice only makes a man 'perfect(er)'

amazing cluelessness at the BIG PICTURE. that's what international cricket and international team sport is all about. you look for brilliant individuals who will win you games. have you heard the imran khan comment -"include matchwinners and fill in the blanks" every decent captain or coach at this level pretty much proceed along similar lines- a matchwinner is worth his weight in gold. if you are not a matchwinner you will be discarded like mongia, sriram ,jaffer and even kaif.that's why its sachin, laxman ,dravid, sehwag who are there for 10 +years and the others didn't make it.even yuvraj is out of tests now.

Explanation has no relevance to what i asked. How exactly he is a matchwinner. How do you know if someone is a matchwinner without even winning a match for you. In the 3 matches he played in one of the match he was one of the culprit to hand out a tie where INdia was on the brink of win. How is he a match winner. Whatever you have said here has no substantiation, proof whatsoever. It is all from your imagination. What i say has proof, hard stats.
