Are our Batsmen ruining it for our bowlers

This is what Bumble wrote in Sky sports article. I've spoken to the groundsmen, guys that don't get paid very much, and they've been told that the players don't want grass on the pitch because they don't like bounce. Look at India's spinners, Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh, they've got spin to work with, but they also want a bit of bounce because that gets batters out. They're getting no help from these pitches because there's no margin of error in them. They're not playing to a strength, they're taking advantage of a weakness, even though it eliminates the influence of one of their top players in Harbhajan. It seems India are piling everything onto their batsmen to win the World Cup for them and that's a very interesting tactic. If this is true Shame on our batsmen who seem to rule the decision making process in the team. Ajay Jadeja also questioned yesterday on NDTV if our batsmen are really so great.If they were so great why they failed so spectacularly in South Africa.His opinion was our batsmen look great only on flat pitches.The moment they see bounce on the pitch they go ducking for cover. All the wins which Indian won on SA tour came due to our much maligned bowling attack. All our batsmen Sachin apart have never really succeeded on any bouncy surfaces.

Most of the current crop of Indian batsmen (barring a legend or two) have trouble when there is bounce. That's no secret. Spinners did get assistance in some of the matches, but how can you take wickets if bowlers like Harbie throw darts and only in containment-mode? And less said the better, abt half-tracker + half-volley Piyush Chawla. Sreesanth? Dont ask. These bowlers need to look at their own bowling, first.

I think our batsmen did pretty well in SA considering the pitches we were presented with.We have been hugely successful in the past 2 years in ODIs because of our batsmen piling on runs,cant really blame the team management for giving our batsmen the best conditions.The problem here is that we have to win 3 matches in a row to win the world cup,the chances of our batsmen clicking in 3 matches on a trot is very low.our bowlers have to step up to the plate at some point in the knockout phase.

It is not like South African batsmen are gods on such pitches. They were bowled out for 130 odd 3 times in the last 3 tests they played at. Let's get one thing straight... there's no batsman and no batting lineup who likes bounce, swing and seam. The Saffers were bundled for 80 when we visited them last time and this time round they got out for 125. Same with Aussies who lost to us in WACA where they couldn't handle bounce and pace. The truth is earlier we didn't have any fast bowlers who could even exploit helpful conditions and our opponents could make fast and bouncy pitch without fear. Now we have half-decent pacers we have seen that the so called teams who can play "pace" have been beaten at their own games. Hell, Smith can't even buy a run against Zaheer in bowler friendly conditions. Let's not apologize for our strengths which is spin and celebrate the talent we have produced. It's not that players like Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag have scored all their runs at home. It's unrealistic to expect all countries to have similar kind of pitches but it's simply not possible. Summer time we get temps hovering around 45 degrees! How the hell would a pace friendly pitch survive that??? Also do remember Bumble and England commentators love to take shots at us, our batsmen, bowlers, spinners, pitches etc. For them everything in Eng, Aus, NZ and SA is great and better than everywhere else. I sure do hope our curators don't bend over backwards just to pls "goras" and stick to our strengths and prepare spin friendly pitches. I mean I don't really know what Bumble has to complain about. His team (Eng) has played in 5 consecutive thrillers and if I were him I would be congratulating the curators for the games that were played on those pitches and try to get a tip or two so that similar pitches could be made in England.

Lol...as if David Lloyd's words are the gospel truth. People should watch a video of Laxman's 96 at Durban last year to see a masterclass of how to bat under dreadfully tough conditions against top class pace bowling instead of getting all over excited at what Lloyd says.
